Is there a decision on a call sign for combined US

I have comments on another board that it has been officially decided to keep Cactus as the call sign.. any confirmation or denials out there?????

From the latest "about US" that came out yesterday.....

Q. Do you have any updates on keeping the Cactus call sign?

A. We don’t have any updates on the combined company’s call
sign. We’ll keep using Cactus on AWA-operated flights for now,
and we’ll let employees know as soon as a decision is made for
the combined company.

I can understand the nostalgia but "cactus" makes no sense PHLFCO, LGABDA or BUFDCA. Maybe something totally different and unique.

I have to agree. It's cute, but come on, cactus is something more suited for a regional airline.

I guess we could start coming up with ideas for a new call sign. Than we could take a poll and send our final winner to HQ. I'm sure someone would be interested in what this board thinks. Kinda like being the second board of directors(with no pay of course.) LOL

Cactus sounds pretty good if you ask me, and yes there are many folks very sentimental about our AWA history...though it may be short in comparision to US Airways, nonetheless we have alot of good hearted folks that would appreciate the Cactus call sign.

Cactus is cool, but only represents a portion of the US. Whereas USAir is more encompassing and global sounding. USAir call sign has more weight with the combined company, got the regional airline to live up to its name. Get away from the regional frame of thinking.
