BTW again Kev. To me as I see it you're advocating against having the "option" of joining the IAMPF? Do you have some kind of problem with being offered options?

If you do have a problem with that, maybe the Delta Cult-ture is beginning to rub off on you more than you think? (Nothing personal)
Nice try, but no.

Of course.

And of course it never occurred to you that my opinions are based on first hand experience and pre date any dealings with the our good friends in ATL, right?

You know darn tooting well that I'm very aware of your situation then and your situations now. And if I had been in your shoes I also admit it would have left a very bad taste in my mouth as well.

Truthfully unless their is a solid law in place that would stop a company from underfunding their DBP and throwing it on an also underfunded Government insurance agency that's not probably going to get a bailout when too many taxpayers have squat, I DO NOT want my pension unfrozen. Leave it alone, shore it up and lock it.

But also I'm blessed by History that when the hammer hit my company they simply weren't allowed to piss their obligation totally into the toilet and off their books. Remember FWAA being so pissed that it wasn't chucked on the PBGC partially because of our Unions advocating against that. And Mr Wonderful PBGC Director Josh Gotbaum as well (I'll never forget that mans name and hope he has a long magnificent life)

Maybe I'm just not as angry about things cause my situation wasn't as bad as too many who came before me?

Again I support CHOICE. Let the individual chose what he thinks is best for him? Not my call unless that individual asks for my advice (And it comes with disclaimers)

If the discussion is about choice, then the clear winner is a 401k, where a worker can choose how to allocate his money. If the funds offered aren't satisfactory, they can choose to put it in a brokerage fund account, and do whatever they please...

And my choice is both "ala" the UAL deal.

Well anything on old Facebook has to be genuine. Never heard a false story in my life there.
The TWU has made it official by releasing a statement regarding Lombardo.

Hope that $81 multiplier stays around...
I'll take my $$$ now, thanks.
i wouldnt count on it. The math show something gotta give again.
Im all for informed consen and choice. The twu and iam will sell the iampf plan as a great choice for the twu peeps. Maybe a 1 time choice AND the witholding of info will improperly inform the twu peeps. All new hires will most likely be forced into the iampf. I wont be given a choice.

Yep.

You do realize you don't work for UA, right?

You do realize I'm already in the IAMNPF, right?

You do realize we both have about the same time invested in the same industry, right?

Yes I do. But I also have a Union negotiating currently for me who can compare and argue what is out there for other groups who perform my work and try to secure the same or better. I consider the UAL retirement deal to be better than what I currently have so I'm advocating for it.

You are and you aren't. Delta airlines management decided of their own accord to no longer participate in the plan and suspended that benefit for you. Let me ask you. If Delta had said that they would continue on with it (with the same 401k match you currently have) would you have told them no thank you if you had that ability?

Use this model for thinking about it. If Delta said they would contribute $2.00 per hour to the IAMPF in your name or you can say no and it would just remain with the company (No other alternative) what would be your answer?

Yes Kev I do know that. And as a matter of fact I think you have even more time than me? (1995) But currently and unfortunately I consider you now somewhat on the outside looking in. You have no real ability to advocate against the company for anything because you have no Labor representative doing so for you. But you do post as if you are still a part of a Union?

Your perspective on things is about an organization (And it's Pension plan) that you are no longer a member of and haven't been one for many years now.

When I advocate for something on this page it's as a Union member. Technically now a member of two Unions, since I have two representing me. So when they read this page and they do I want them to hear from me, a dues paying member. (And supporter)

Remember, LUS had the $81 as well. Now it is $50. Who knows what it will be in 10 years, could be $25. The plan is subject to a 3rd party and NOT you. That 3rd party will have to make further benefit cuts probably twice more by the time you are 62, and with Obama's new law assisting Union pension bosses to slash retiree pensions, it's going to be an endless cycle. You aren't a very smart man to want to dive into a plan that historically had to make severe cuts and will have to make ongoing severe cuts. I doubt seriously that you would actually make the presumed one time plunge into this plan, although I fully agree that you will advocate and say you are since you will do whatever the IAM wants you to do for the promised job. Otherwise, logically, it doesn't make any sense that you would have your company sidestep your account, that you control, and instead give the money to an account that is NOT yours, but a 3rd party, and then give a knife to the pension trustees to slash your money. Hey, it benefits me if you and other lemmings walk over the cliff but my desire is to make sure you are informed before you self destruct.
