Yes, I'm afraid so. It's like watching a dumb crook try and break into a house so he can steal what's inside. He tried the back door, but the Doberman Pincer in the backyard bit him in the arse. Next tried a side window, but his head got stuck in the bars. Poor fool just doesn't realize if he ever gets inside there's the business end of a Colt 45 waiting for him. The Police (courts) have been called and they're on the way. For some reason the crook isn't worried, because when the Police get there he thinks they're going to open up the door for him and help load the van with stolen goods.

Spot on. Arguing about the Nic is not going to get the courts to decide any faster. We came together in 2005, it's done. Keep looking in the rearview mirror we are going to miss the fork in the road with American.

Seeing the dysfunction within the union is concerning going into a merger. It's comical, like a scene from Gomer Pyle. I used the same Southern steriotypes used by Hollywood to point out the silly things going on in Charlotte. I've gotten to the point of just laughing about the whole thing and wait for courts to rule.

So there you have it, Pi, I'm Southern myself, born in Atlanta with family in the Carolinas and Georgia for generations.

Who knows, we may run into each other at Spondivits one day on an Atlanta layover. The question remains, who buys? We just have to wait for the courts to rule.

Mergers and tough economic times seem to bring out the worst and after the PI merger and the struggles in the early 90's there seemed to be the need to place blame. Too many factions in this pilot group that don't trust the others.

I lived in Lilburn near Stone Mountain and remember workers completing the carving of Lee, Jackson and Davis in the early 70's. My grandparents were textile mill workers, my parents earned advanced degress and became executives to escape to escape the mill town called ARNCO.

I have an sppreciation of both the hard working textile workers and for
free enterprise and education that provides an avenue to a different life if so desired. Even though my parents had the means to give me the car and flying lessons, I paid for it myself while in high school. It shapes who I am today. For example, I never looked down on the baggage handler or fueler while doing walk arounds.

WHEREAS US Airways is actively involved in the ongoing process of industry consolidation and this process has serious consequences for our members and their families because of its effect on career expectations, compensation and advancement, and

WHEREAS it is critically important for USAPA to present its position on consolidation and to represent the interests of its members forcefully and accurately at every opportunity, and

WHEREAS the BPR, through its unanimous vote, has approved the Chairmen of our Merger Committee and NAC which under our Constitution are the Committees charged with representing the interests of our members with respect to these important issues,

Therefore Be It Resolved: The BPR directs the President to notify the Board of all public and private meetings and events where USAPA is dispatching personnel to represent our interests, and

Therefore Be It Further Resolved that during any event, public or otherwise, that relates to the proposed merger between US Airways and American Airlines, USAPA will be represented by either the Chair of the Merger Committee or the Chair of the NAC or the designee of one or the other.

At the Pilot for Pilot meeting yesterday, a pilot asked Gary Hummel if the pilots would get to vote on any agreement he is making with the company. His answer should alarm pilot here with how he worded it. They would get to vote on a TA, but not a MOU.

An MOU is a Memorandum of Understanding which could be binding on the pilot group here. An MOU is what he is negotiating. The devil is in the details. In law, there is almost always a built in exception to a rule. An MOU can be an agreement between USAPA and the company but falls through the cracks on whether we will get a vote.

This is why secret negotiations are so dangerous and why we are so alarmed. Stay tuned. Your future is being decided by people that may not have your best interest in mind.
