June - US Pilots Labor Discussion

One pilot, one vote. What exactly is it that you are advocating? We vote and we lose...that is democracy. What you want is similar to a civil rights movement complete with handouts. Sorry, but that is the way you make it sound.

A new union, namely APA, is the best option, if you want to call it that. There are 9000 APA pilots. They will get what they want and the rest of us will live with it. HEY! That sounds like what we have NOW!

Carry on...

Driver...

No, what we have now is a discriminatory union that perpetually harms a minority.

Tell me driver, do you agree with the Appeal Board rerun? The rules that applied to the incumbents don't seem to apply to the west pilots that were elected - is that how a democracy works?

USAPA is a perfect example of why the our government is a constitutional republic. Democracy is just as bad as an autocracy.

Question...Do you think we'll keep the E-190 if a merger with AA takes place?

I hope so - we should actually negotiate to dump the CRJ's in favor on a Emb fleet - the customers love them over the CRJ's for example:

CRJ200 replaced with ERJ 145
CRJ700 replaced with Embraer 170
CRJ900 replaced with Embraer 175

This would be a huge improvement in product for the customer and the pilot group can use the merger as a way to negotiate to bring these inhouse to piedmont, psa, eagle, etc

This way every pilot and probably FA would keep their jobs

If we were smart we would partner with the other unions to have all of us focus on bringing this flying inhouse and pressure the company together for maximum impact

I've never flown in an EMB.

How does the customer experience differ from that of a CRJ?

The 170 and 175 you can actually stand in and carry your carry on's into the cabin - that speeds up the departure and arrival process - also the seats are bigger.

Many US FF's say that the E-Jets are the best ride the airline has in it's fleet except the new Envoy Suites.

However, many also prefer the ERJ 145 to the CRJ 200 because of the single seat side seating configuration. But they would love having the E170/175/190 over the CRJ 700/900/1000.

AA has a mainline pay rate for about 90 up to 110-115 seats in the term sheet given to the APA. Like all the rates in that term sheet, it is more than the US TA 190 rates. That's the E 190/198 or Canadair C-series.

It seems that every time a bid comes out I have to correct someone's comments about what the bid contains. I don't know if it's ignorance or attempts to put lipstick on a pig as a way of taking a swipe at the west, but it's every bid...

Jim

PS - I forgot to add that the 40 new hires in the new bid is an approximation
Jim The Almighty,

It's been, what, 5 years since you were gone?

No need for you to correct anyone as age 65 has changed the game. As in, 40 means, FORTY, and 25 a month thereafter.

Maybe you and Munn can get a pedicure together.

USAPA is not a democracy but an oligarchy and we do have the equivalent of a civil rights movement going on here.

"we do have the equivalent of a civil rights movement going on here." Wow!...I'm honestly amazed by that observation/claim...in that ANYONE could even make it regarding this comparatively petty squabble.

And NOW folks!...The moment we've all been waiting for! The Academy Award for Most Utterly Astounding Delusions of Grandeur goes to...The "Spartans"! 😉

When you are the lowest paying major airline, there isn't substantial impact on bringing RJs in-house. The whipsaw is down to the roots, there's not much lower you can go.

If you're looking for improvements, then build on what you already have, and that requires a committment to work cooperatively, not simply perform in some third-rate organized labor-era reinactment on your days off. FA's need to ditch the pilots and the pilots need to ditch USAPA. Once those two are complete, let the rebuilding begin, regardless of fleet.

And why is it that Parker even acknowledges the west with his talk of a three way list if, being the majority, you should be able to submit your own?

"...acknowledges the west with his talk of a three way list..."

Consider that observation just a wee bit further.

Democracy is just as bad as an autocracy.

Doubtless the romans under Caligula, the Iraqis under "Big Brother Saddam", the russians under Stalin, and certainly all germans under Hitler would have instantly agreed as to the "evils" of democracy and the comparative evils of autocracy being entirely equivalent...... Sigh!....The ability to even offer such a "gem" serves to amaze....but sadly less so, as the "gems" continue to propagate 😉

Doing nothing = DOH. The issue is - can a union purposely do nothing in order to benefit one side at the expense of the other...

How is it that doing nothing benefits one side at the expense of the other (presumably you think the East is benefitting at the expense of the West  ).

Supposedly, according to your compatriots, doing nothing is providing the West with an unparalleled pay advantage over the East that remains on LOA 93, doing nothing leaves the East without that superior vacation, superior health care, superior PBS, and of course the superior proximity to the Sand Castle---and for well over five years!

Doing nothing is so effective it even earns the title "Scab" ( in the eyes of the more generous).

Do tell us the many ways that doing nothing scabs are able to so greatly benefit one side at the expense of the other! ... Ands while you are at it remember that East Payrates have made a profit possible (that is doing nothing in a way that benefits all sides, at the expense of one)... But please don't let me interrupt you. You were saying....

OK, Mr expert - how did the change to age 65 alter the bid award and filling of vacancies sections of the contract? Give details since you have it down pat...

Jim
