The problem with your scenario is the West contract became amendable in 2006...the east's in 2010.
Are you suggesting that in a future merger the company would open themselves to the very precarious position of having one union with 3 contracts that are all amendable?
Simple solution there for the union. Take the most out of date contract ..i.e the West's. Go section 6 with it, demand better pay than the current top scale or shut down the airline, jacking up that corner of the building, then do the same with the east's contract, etc. etc.
See, you are assuming the APA is as stupid as usapa and wants to make gains by stealing it from one side of their membership to give it to the other.
