I have a question for our friends from US Air. Let's put aside all of the "my airline is better than yours" for a minute.

My question is this. WHY exactly are you so in favor of this proposed merger? Given all the confidence that it's basically a done deal, there has to be a reason better than simply because you don't like a certain poster or because you think those of us at DAL are brainwashed and arrogant. What is in the deal that will make YOU better off?

Let's also put Delta aside for a minute as well. As it exists today, do you think US Airways has everything it needs in order to be a strong and viable competitor now and in the long term?

I can't speak for anyone else, but there actually does not have to be a better reason. I am in favor of this merger because I don't like WorldTraveler.

I hope my answer makes as much sense as your loaded question.

Although I'm not a huge Delta fan and would hate to give up the USAirways name, US needs to get bigger and this would be a great opportunity to do so. Good luck. 😉

You are a UAL whore. Be quiet and stay out of it..

Really? Can you show any recent posts where I was drinkin the UA coolaid or pulled a WT and proclaimed how UA was the best airline in the world?

I'm not really even getting into the DL debate - just having fun calling WT out.

I just want to nonrev to some new places. Friends moved to Bend, Ore and DL is one of the carriers that flies there.

Other than that, dont care one way or the other. Its nice working only 22-25 flights a day. If the merger goes thru, add about 30-40 more on top of that. Not too interested in that part of it.

The only thing I've heard from the DL guys about the merger while talking to them on the employee bus is that they like our casual shirts instead of their designer ties. Other than that, not much is being said on a local level one way or the other from what I've been told.

WT has nothing to do with this as far as I am concerned. I have read your posts for the past year. If you think UAL is immune to consolidation, think again. This sucks for everyone involved. And for the record, I think UAL would be a much better merger partner...

A good question....with no emotion.....

As a US employee,(19 yrs), I remember not too long ago finding out we did not have enough money to possibly finish the weekend. If that doesn't make you think about your future, I don't know what will. You know the mortgage, cars, college funds, starting over...it just keeps rolling. I know a lot of corportate greed with golden parachutes, stocks, and all of that, is out of my control, or as I say "bigger than all fof us". It was not fair to the hard working employees who kept this airline from failing. I like what I do, and continue to push forward. What a breath of fresh air when HP and the investors took us over. We constantly hear the phrase "That's just the way we do it", and I am ok with that. I don't agree with all of it, but I adapt. We now have a future.

I know a lot of DL employees have come to hard times, we read it all of the time, just as we have. A lot of lives have changed, and will continue to change. One thing that makes me a little sad, is the loss of the US Airways name, that all of us here have worked so hard to keep. And I know a lot of HP employees feel the same way losing the America West name. A lot of sweat and tears. DL employees will contiunue to see their name and logo on all of the A/C, just a new group of management, who will continue to try and prove their abilities. I am hoping this merger clears for all of us to continue our careers. I know DL employees have a lot of pride, and I think that is great. We have it too. Together, a more secure, kick a$$ airline with employees that know how to run an airline.

"it's bigger than all of us" Have a great weekend, thanks for listening

jetman out..... B)

I don't think UA is nor should be immune at all...and agree it would be a powerful combo.

couldn't have said it better myself. very well put

Jetman, Thanks for that very well written post. Its nice to know that some east US employees appreciate how hard it was to lose the HP name. We liked our little corner of the world and were thrust into the BIG COLD world! Yes, this merger is bigger than all of us and I hoep if it happens we will all be successful. There will be problems along the way, there were problems before any of the mergers. Its just the nature of life. I hope the future is bright for all of us.
