I heard that we all lost 14 months senority
They say if you call HR your date of hire has been changed

So is it true and what is the CWA doing about it?

The IT Department probably screwed something up again.

How can you lose seniority when it is governed by your CBA?

Hey - who let the cat out of the bag?

This was the secret "cost-minus" part of the "cost-neutral" concept - take 12 months longevity away every year and no one moves up the pay scales...... 😱

What if a person only has twelve months here?
You would have to go back to thinking about applying for the job! LOL
Hey, this might be a good time to think about another/any other job!

OK....Here's a flaw in your beloved CBA...and it's something I mentioned in another thread and you chose to ignore.

US East Planners...Acreeded into the union without a vote..OK the IAM went to a judge and got it done...No Beef or Arguement there.

However...Some Planners got credit for time served in previous jobs un-related to Planning , Maintenance , Utility or Stores.

How fair is it for a 20 MSP type to waltz in to the Planning Group and get FULL CREDIT for 20 in the Planning Group without having the background and senority in that classification?

Keep in mind...This Johnny Come Lately has bid preferences , bumping privledges over others whom have been in the Planning Group since the day they were hired in that position. His 20 in Customer Servce or whatever is trumping any person with less time as a Planner. How fair is that? The same cannot be said of anyone in the Mechanic , Utility or Stores groups....Splane me this Lucy

How is it...That date of hire rules over time in the position? Simply put...The IAM was LAZY and it failed to represent those whom have already put in their time....It was a quick way to push through a contract as opposed to really looking after the people they are supposed to be representing.

So with a negative seniority, would you have to PAY the company to work here? Wow, that would be even better than cost NUTral!!
Hey,
Would it (also) take all the wrinkles off my face and make my sagging arse firmer too?

You would have to ask Duke Snyder along with the members from your classification who negotiated your provisions.

I was not involved with your group.

I would contact Tony G and see if you can correct the wrong.

It should be date into the classification just like everyother classification in the CBA.

"Ask Duke" ? He's the one that accepted an un-fair method of determining senority in the first place. This NOT only impacts the current people in the EAST..it will soon be a burr in the saddle for those in the WEST once they get taken in under the IAM umbrella

"I was not involved with your group"....1st of all it's not my Group...but it impacts Brother and Sister Memebers of the IAM whom are entitled to equal treatment for the equal amount of dues they are paying.

"I would contact Tony G"....No, you are always the one spouting the virtues of the IAM and acting as the self-appointed standard bearer here...You contact Tony G and get things set straight....Maybe more action and less talk would do some wonders for you and your headlong defense of everything the IAM does...or in this case fails to do. Put up or Shut Up comes to mind

Time is running out and a Single Carrier status is closing in...The time to get it right is long overdue...and it certainly needs to be corrected before the EAST and WEST Groups are merged officially and more people on both side are injured. Talk about greivances and making someone whole again...This is a classic example of mis-representation.

I wonder how this would sort out in a legal battle with the Company and the IAM when everyone else in the IAM is sorted by senority in a given classification Vs. the easy way out of date of hire. The presedence is set with over 50 years of history supporting my arguement.
