Today is the first day for the new ATC Quota Flow Program which restricts airspace access during severe weather events, versus restricting just the high density airports like LGA, EWR and PHL. This means delays will impact airports like PVD, BDL, BWI, MDT, ABE, AVP etc. Delays are averaging 1 hour to 2.5 hours.

This will have a HUGE impact on NE carriers like US. Instead of having 2-3 airplanes delayed and misconnecting, you will know have the potential for 10-12 airplanes per bank! This change is going to be very costly and a hige impact on all carriers and customers making connections this summer. ATC Centers and regions that are normally exempt from delays are now involved, such as the Caribbean abd West Coast centers. Tonight all the flights from the West Coast / Caribbean to PHL are being delays almost 2 hours due to T-storm activity in New York / Boston / Washington Centers.

Hang on boys and girls.....it is going to be FUGLY.

Check out the ATCSCC Website and click on the FCAA01 and FCAA02 links to see the effected areas.

And just when Parker and Company keep telling of all the great improvements in PHL. What a joke!

All of it.

He continues to shove all northeast connecting traffic through the airport which ranks at the bottom in just about everty catagory in the industry, subjecting anyone who dares to fly us to the many many inconviniences that come with its inefficiancies.

Do you realize how many people will no longer fly our airline because of this?

I have yet found anyone who enjoys traveling thru PHL. It's a black hole that should have long ago disappeared.

Thank You, and your not alone.

There is just no reason to subject anyone who doesn't live in PHL to endure the nightmare!

You need to educate yourself. This new ATC program shoves it up everyone's behind. Look at CO in EWR. AA, DL and B6 in JFK. WN in BWI, ISP, PVD, MHT and BDL. AA, DL, US in LGA. US and WN in PHL. B6, AA, DL and US in BOS. US in DCA and UA in IAD. This isn't just a US in PHL issue.

In essence, this new program shuts off all traffic into all of the airports in the effected airspace and not just the big airports. This will also have an effect on the ABE, MDT, HPN, SWF, ALB, etc airports.

Mark is right and I never thought I would say this but this much worse than the old program. We have flights on the west coast waiting to takeoff and fly four hours to get to the area and by that time the weather has been gone for over three hours. Ther are waiting for another two hours(it is 630pm).

Don't worry I get plenty of homework from many many ex-customers of ours who no longer fly US anymore due to PHL being about the only option. Sorry but I just don't buy the line that PHL is where all the money's at and it would still make more sense to send your bread and butter connecting passengers through an airport that can actually handle it, away from the Nightmare, Northeast corridor. People want a good dependable product when they fly, and they get neither one from being shoved through PHL.

LAST TIME I CHECKED WE WERE STILL PAID BY THE HOUR, GOING THROUGH PHL AND TAKE TWO TO THREE DAYS OFF YOUR BLOCK IN THE SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe (just maybe) the feds are trying to send a message to the airlines about being realistic about the AARs at the Northeast airports. Scheduling 80/hr into PHL when you know you won't get that when the weather hits the fan, and stuff.

That said, I agree with MMW--this is going to kick everyone's butt really hard, particularly the idea that flights are being held in their original ARTCC region (or AFP, or whatever the feds are calling them) and not released to fly in the general direction of the target AFP is crazy. No flight from the west coast should be ground stopped because it's raining in PHL. The FAA has 4-5 hours to figure that out.....

well it got off to a bad start then today. at abe, my city, we had a B-767 divert in from BDA--FLT 25 for fuel and go and we had to get the airport to get the customs to release the plane which occurred early on after the 76 touched. got close that he would have cancelled due to time out. but we got him out in a hurry. it was our very first time ever working a 767 in ABE and this was with 3 ramp agents, and an ops agent NS bout 4 to 5 gate agents. we didnt use the gate just the pad as we always use it for refuel and go divert

robbedagain, it sounds like the folks at ABE did a great job especially since you never worked a 67 before. Was anyone trained on the 67 and were there any unexpected surprises?
