If I were a bitter man as you obviously are I would do myself a big favor and move on extending my life because your hatred and bitterness is slowing killing you as per reading it in your every hate filled post slamming the IAM. Maybe some counseling will spend up the healing process.

How can one not be bitter towards the IAM? Based on their past track record, one can only assume that they will do as they have done in the past, which is very little when it comes to the Fleet group. If the IAM wants to change their reputation among the membership, now is the time to do it. 😉

It is good and right to hate cetain things like injustices therefore no counseling is needed when the right things are hated and not tolerated. Bitter? no, not me, but I do stand up against their endless injustices when I have the energy.
The IAM is an injust political machine that serves up uselessness to the common man, does not believe in accountability to their membership, and keeping their membership well informed. I hope to have its full proposel for posting here sometime soon so even though they have a 'can't tell ya' mentality, I hope to secure the proposal shortly and post it as soon as I can for all to view.

As a side, 700IAM, I think my opinion on the IAM is actually in the far majority as far as the uselessness of being a member of them. I certainly hope the IAM arbitrates and doesn't violate but IMO this will not happen and it has nothing to do with my personal opinion on the matter, history tells me what the IAm will do.

I have a little less than 15 years of paying IAM dues and for that I receive a nice monthly check for the rest of my life which hopefully will be a while since I am not that old and in good health. Other unions could never get this great benefit for it's members. I know this for a fact living here in the rust belt where thousands have a lot more time paying dues with absolutely nothing to show for it, nothing! So keep on bitching about the IAM and I'll keep on thanking the IAM!! You need to remember people are flawed and we are still on planet earth where Satan rules, remember that FACT when bitching about flawed humans. Around here in the Pittsburgh area which I have been all my life and within a 100 mile radius I can name thousands of manufacturing companies and jobs that are gone or severely cut to next to nothing but mostly just gone.

Most of the people who worked for those companies that were [union] jobs are now doing something else with their life, many are simply struggling. Pittsburgh has a long history of strong unions. I have run into tons of people who paid unions dues for over 30 years and if they receive anything at all it's a few lousy hundred bucks a month for a lifetime of labor. The older ones who are not real healthy and cannot do manual labor anymore take guard jobs to help pay for their prescriptions and then buy them via Canada because it's cheaper.

These people are shocked when they find out I not only receive a pension at my relatively young age but even more shocked when they find out how much that check is, they just can't believe it thinking it impossible because they are comparing it to the unions they gave money to for a lifetime.

I'll tell you something else, I couldn't believe it either and it helped me make the decision to retire and seek other careers leaving the aviation nightmares in the past. This was the IAM's doing and [not] the airline. The IAM made sure it's members had something to show for years on the job!

The airline workers like your self have been screwed over so bad for so long that people like you are blaming everyone except where the real blame should be placed which is directly on the airline executives. These vermin have no problem screwing everyone while rewarding themselves with a glass of fine wine in one hand congratulating themselves with the other. You ignore that fact and blame the very people who are trying to help you. Tim is just bitter because he tried to start his own union three times all ready and failed.

He even filed short back in the early 90s and got a one year bar on organizing at US and the company too full advantage of that and gutted their wages, working conditions and benefits.

His job was saved by the IAM as he tried to organzie a slow down and was posted on the ramp underground web page and then he was removed from his grievance position as he was promoting dual unionism.

Don't forget that number was cut in HALF if you were in a
Mainline Express station...Of course we only were in the IAM pension plan for 2 years before our jobs were outsourced, and now there is nothing. It is very comforting to me to know that I will get roughly $75 a month from the IAM when I reach retirement age. The plan would have been much more beneficial if some of us still had our jobs.... :huh:

Leaving my opinion and subjective matters out of this equation, I must say you do not know the facts. The facts are that the US AIRWAYS fleet service worker enjoyed up to 10% contributions being put into their retirement. This was based on total earnings. Then, it wasn't the company but rather the IAM that screwed fleet service over more by eliminating the previous retirement contributions of up to 10% of total income, and replacing it with the IAM pension fund and its 3% contribution or 5% contribution based on only 40 hours per week. Sorry, overtime no longer mattered with the newer lesser plan.

In fact, the IAM pension was so good that it was the second biggest single concession in the contract and was worth a concession of $48.2 million. On top of that, it has suspensions, etc., that it subjects its contributors to and can't be touched or used like other retirment plans.

In short, the IAM pension plan is dinosauric and a pension plan that is a blast from the last century. Workers want choices and portability NOT paternalism and a lack of access.

Sorry, just pointing to the scoreboard. I really wish I was wrong. But yes, I hate the IAM injustices it has harmed on its members. The IAM loyalist lies included 'no more concessions, '1113 letters', Mid Atlantic scam, and my favorite lie that the IAM pension fund was a benefit even though it was a 48.2 million concession. That's the past. I do not know the future but I guess hypotetically the IAM can technically change and fight like hell for the common man. I wonder how many on here would espouse that theory. I find it less than plausible but I could be wrong.
