New Uniforms...

Few more pieces.

I am so jealous I could cry. Crappy old Delta is bankrupt too and they get to be fabulous. Meanwhile we have to be "business casual". I'm really dreading what they come up with. 🙁

With all that has been said about employee input why not put it up for vote. Ask the frontline what they would like to see in uniform pieces or even a new look. I for one would pay out of pocket to receive a new uniform. :groovy:

A few week's ago US Airways vice president of flight operations Ed Bular held a conference call with all Chief Pilots, Fleet Captains, Base Manager's, Base Adminstorators, FCTI's, and other interested parties.

Bular said that there will be a new uniform, it was presently being designed, and more information would be available in the future.

I like the scarves. Scarves are attractive and professional at the same time.

When PI and US merged in the late 80s, I was at a meeting with the powers that be on uniform items. One of the other flight attendants at the meeting asked the Crystal City uniform guru why scarves weren't added. The guru replied that they had considered it, but realized that PIT FAs would end up wearing them as belts, in their hair or in any way they weren't intended to be worn. That was the end of that.

Thats funny!
A few years ago, that would've been the case with HP FAs as well, but over the past years management has done a remarkable job of moulding us into Stepford Stews.
Most of us follow the uniform standard pretty well.
And if you don't, we have one particular duty sup who has made it her personal mission to nail anyone not in compliance.
Plus, making fun of the commuter FAs who have absolutely NO standards, has become a pass-time, and no one wants to be in the boat with them!

Maybe we should all start wearing our tabs in our hair and they will get rid of them! 😛

Lol, that's why the MAA F/As are so uniform- concious... they don't want to be mistaken for Express.

LOL  I just bought 2 new skirts and 4 shirts since I don't fit in the old ones. Maybe it's a sign that new f/a uniforms are on the way after all!

Don't hold your breath for FA uniforms.
I see us each keeping our basic navy bottoms and jackets, and maybe they will add uniform ties/eppaulettes/scarf(?)
But I don't see it happening any time soon.
And for certain at HP we will be allowed to wear any old pieces as long as we want. If they mandate a complete change, they will have to pay for the new pieces, and they won't go there.

I, too, just bought a brand new sleeveless jacket, wore it twice this spring, and then lost two sizes over summer.
Luckily I found a (very) old smaller size in the closet.

Don't you hate the way they shrink? 😉

What are you going to do with BOTH of them?
If the company would authorize shirts purchased from the company store (the polos at about $25 each or so) to be "official" wear for agents, I'm sure many would purchase them just to get out of the tie. Think how much that would save the company from having to pay to replace the nasty worn out stuff we're working in now.
Do not bleach the shirts, it makes the collars wrinkle up and turn dingy. Best I've found is to just Shout the collars and Oxydol the wash in cold/medium water. Still dont last too long with that, but they look better than when I was using bleach on them.

In the east, pilots buy and pay for our own uniforms. Most of us have been waiting to see if we were going to need new ones, I think its pretty safe now. 😉

Ha, ha...ROTFLMOA....you are right on, LY!! God that was the funniest thing I've heard in a while, (or maybe I've just lost my mind from this place) 🙂 So true, you can always tell the MAA f/a's in the F terminal---can't wait to get out of there! They are the most put-together, and stylish ones in the terminal....well, as stylish as you can look in polyester, anyway..Lol
