New Uniforms...

Lol, that's why the MAA F/As are so uniform- concious... they don't want to be mistaken for Express.

Ha, ha...ROTFLMOA....you are right on, LY!! God that was the funniest thing I've heard in a while, (or maybe I've just lost my mind from this place) 🙂 So true, you can always tell the MAA f/a's in the F terminal---can't wait to get out of there! They are the most put-together, and stylish ones in the terminal....well, as stylish as you can look in polyester, anyway..Lol

They had some MDA fas on that new paint tour and they all looked really sharp. Bet they picked them on purpose cuz they arent so haggard as mainline lol. Maybe they can keep them around just for photo shhots and stuff.

As silly as it may seem, the MDA f/a's do look pretty polished wearing the same uniforms that alot of the "Mainline" people have managed to trash over the last couple years......why? Obviously with the exception of a few select supervisors in the East more effort was devoted to their "Executive Fashion Show" than addressing flagrant uniform violations that even customers couldn't help but notice......wearing a uniform is the easiest part of the job (cleaning and pressing it is another story). Used to commute on one of the Exp carriers (Shuttle America).....good riddance (All yours UAL) could have sworn the Grim Reaper had a sister working the plane- pathetic/disgusting/embarassing!

Shuttle America was an abomination. The only thing I miss about them is PineyBob's hilarious trip reports- non-English speaking F/As with terrible body odor, planes set to fall apart... those were USAviation classics!

If the MAA F/As can afford to make it look good there is no reason thier Airbus/Boeing collegues can't do the same. It's pretty ironic that they seem to have the most pride in thier service and appearance and are the ones getting booted.

I think the reason mainline flight attendants have become relaxed with wearing their ties and tabs is due to the women not looking, well like women. The other issue I think is that we would have appearance checks by supervisors all the time before departure. After all the concessions we gave and being treated like crap by management it is more of a Piss off attitude and done on purpose. Not to mention that we look at all these other carriers bankrupt and the like with new uniforms and all yet we still wear this crust. Some may say it looks crips and nice when worn well but so does Uncle Verns Blue tux that he pulls out for the occasional funeral or wedding. It's outdated and looks outdated. I admit though, it's the least of our worries to get a new uniform now. Lets get the DOH settled first.

HAVE A FRIEND WHO WAS WALKING THRU THE PHL TERMINAL THE OTHER DAY AND RAN INTO A UNKNOWN SUPERVISOR.........HE WAS COMPLIMENTED FOR HIS APPEARANCE. A FEW DAYS LATER HE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE SAME SUPERVISOR AT HIS HOME VIA US MAIL. THEN IN ADDITION HE GOT A LETTER FROM HIS BASE MANAGER IN HIS MAIL FILE AT WORK.

IS THIS TYPICAL OF HOW US/WEST HANDLES A COMPLIMENT?

This is sooooo true. Putting a woman in a shirt designed for a man is stupid. Double breast pockets?! Some of the "D" cup girls could blow a button on those pockets and put someone's eye out.

But to someone else's post about care of appearance, you're exactly right. Although the uniform is , IMO, really bad, it is no excuse for looking like you slept in it. The crew who brought me home from FRA last month were very nice, but they looked like they had never seen an iron. One guy had no undershirt on and his aviator shirt was unbuttoned to the middle of his chest. He looked like he was going to a disco in 1978...gold chains and all.

Ok, now the no undershirt thing is absolutely disgusting. Those poor girls that have to wear that shirt.... they look like bus drivers or their on prison patrol. No wonder they lose the tab and open the shirt a bit.

HP Vendor is M&H Uniforms. Fairly new shirt is a blue/white small checked thing. Disadvantage? It looks a bit like a farmer shirt...not very professional however, major advantage---NO TIE OR SCARF OR BUTTON COVER REQUIRED. Also, HP uniforms (CSRs) have choice of skirt, pants, skort or dress as well as twin set sweater (short sleeve sweater w/cardigan) or jacket or vest. Heard from US Airways CSRs that HP options were better but I agree that we'd all like something professional yet comfortable!

If we don't wear ties do you think that perhaps folks may turn to DL, NW or the other LCC's? As long as it's a nice and modern uniform I don't think a tie is important. Maybe one as an option but not a mandatory item. It's a bus with wings or a train without rails. The glamour and trendy uniforms that the other carriers are fantastic but are done to appeal to the eye of the customer. While most couldn't care less. I'm sure there are a few on here that would disagree. I'm not suggesting picnic attire so don't get me wrong. The glamour ENVOY days are gone.

Well as I have stated before I am hoping for a Bannana Republic Biz Casual style. I think if the men wish to wear a tie then they should be able to. I also feel if the men don't want a tie then they shouldn't have to wear one. Honey we could put 90% of these people in custom Armani and they'd still look like Shriznit. The most important thing is accountability for those wearing the uniform.

I like the scarves. Scarves are attractive and professional at the same time.

Not much change on the horizon in the way of uniforms...u-east.....boring boring boring. Look for a few simple changes (cost effective) live new and different epaulettes and ties, for the women, no real big changes there either. Count on more of the same or changes that cost very very little. LCC. Gate persnnell...will contine with much of the same, but begin looking for the business casual look, it's the culture of the western operation and that culture will be attempted in the east.

That's like me saying "Please don't let women walk around without (at least) two inch heels and a skirt on". As long as the uniform is professional, I think it's just fine. Even the U.S. Military doesn't require ties all year or on all uniforms.

😉 😉 AMEN to that. Imagine if u told women they HAD to wear skirts - same goes for men - the tie thing is so so TIRED! Many people look very professional and stylish without ties ( especially the cheap and tacky kind US makes their employess wear). Develop/Design a good looking wearer friendly uniform that all types of people can wear. Hire a designer that knows about the industry. US could never do it, maybe somebody can pull it off at the NEW US.
