T-town yes. Local 514 presented this to 3 different title groups on mids in Hangar 3.

Well if this is true what happened to the strong union leadership in 514?
You guys in Tulsa were duped again. I am very sorry to hear this.
I wonder if this is encouraged by the TWU to curtail the guys who are using their smart phones and laptops to try to overthrow the TWU. This action would be something that the Union should be on top of and fight the company. This creates a hostile work environment more than it already is. The union should act on this immediately.

You guys need to check the Regs.. I believe there is a provision that cell phone use inside break rooms is authorized..

Lockheed in Ft Worth did a similar crackdown after those guys came back from their strike.

Tonite we had a meeting consisting of new work rule changes beginning ASAP.
This meeting was held by our local union in our shop. We were told beginning on DOS we will no longer be allowed to bring cell phones to work period. No communication devices or electronic devices allowed in the gates. All chairs will be disposed of with the exception of the crew chiefs and supervisions chairs. At break time we will use picnic benches. DWMS will be used within 30 minutes of start time to clock in all labor. If you do not clock in labor at anytime it will be instant coach and counseling. Second time you will be terminated. All lockers will be disposed of regardless of personal or company use. They went as far as to say if you finish your job and the plane is on engine run-up. If you are not assigned to the run-up crew. You may be asked to be sent home until the following work day. This is just the highlights that came out of our meeting tonite. The union said this is system wide changes not just our shop. Needless to say the meeting was very heated.
Good! You people voted this in, now live with it! The company promised to respect you in the morning, but it just threw you to the curb. I hope they implement this policy on the line stations also. It is frustrating for those of us who want to do our jobs per the AMM, GPM and all the "verbatim" and "full compliance" edicts of the company, when some individuals want to get done ASAP in order that they may return to their lap tops, watching movies or conduct personal business over their cell phones. PLEASE! If there are company spies reading this, PLEASE; relay this to your masters: Get rid of the lap tops, the TVs in the break rooms, the chairs, tables, etc. Why not get rid of the rest rooms too? Get some porta-potties instead. While they're at it, get rid of the break rooms too; we can just hang around like day laborers under a jet bridge waiting for a supervisor to come pick us up for a job. All this would significantly reduce costs for the company and give us ample time to do our job of providing a safe, reliable aircraft in full compliance of all FARS and maintenance manual procedures. Also, tell them we need more spoiler locks, gear door locks, etc.

We were also told they hired two reps to monitor employee comments about the company on public websites. Facebook and twitter were the two sites mentioned in the meeting.

Welcome to the brave new world. Good luck getting much cooperation. When did you want that plane to fly?
