Couple "Deserve is word without meaning in this context." with your notion that "Seniority isn't earned..." and it's VERY clear just exactly where you're coming from = Whatever some arbitrator says that I can get/get away with is what's "right".....Pretty sad stuff actually. Spare us all any further fantasies concerning your equally absurd notions of "integrity", et al.

PS: "What happens after 1, 5, or 20 years is only a small criteria..." Please put that precious little bit away somewhere... draw it forth in twenty years, read it again...and see if there's then ANY way you can not just shake your head in utter amazement and disbelief at what a naive and complete fool you were/are now. 😉

Still having trouble with definitions? If you work for a company for 17 years and you can't even hold the bottom active position in your workgroup how much seniority have you earned? If it was something you earned then how much can you sell it for? Can a new hire offer to buy the seniority you earned for any price and advance faster than someone else hired at the same company on the same date?

How does someone deserve to have a position on a seniority list when seniority is not a merit based metric? Do you gain more seniority based on good performance or having a positive attitude or do you gain seniority when the company adds more people junior to you on a list?

And what makes you think my opinion would change in 20 years? It hasn't changed in the past seven years so why should you or I expect a change in what is clearly a mathematical and logical discussion rather than an emotional one, at least for me?

Odd. The same "our way or the highway" thinking (East DOH or nothing in 2007, West NIC or nothing 2012) still gets no results.

We ain't getting straight DOH, and the NIC is DOA. Really.

Might this be the time for all involved to consider current events and act in the best way possible to get the maximum gain?

According to what I read here, a DFR and damages seems to be a forgone conclusion. I ask why not cash in on that logic? You cannot win until you spin the wheel. Time to put up or...you know.
