Philadelphia Radical Towne Hall Meeting yesterday with Doogie and gang!

No, no. I have seen it. I’ve read it myself. His contract has a very specific “standards exclusionary clauseâ€￾ allowing drunken buffoonery following failed merger attempts. B)

Make all the jokes you want - but he is still here running the airline - and everyone else on this board would have been fired if they had done the same thing.

Actually, it's not the DUI. There are two provisions of the ethics policy that Doug potentially violated, and neither mentions DUI's.

1 - A provision that employee's consume alcohol in moderation while representing the company, even outside business hours. You may remember Fly4Free mentioned being cautioned about alcohol consumption at a dinner - seems like it was something to the effect of only having one drink. Should Doug be held to a lower standard?

2 - A provision that an employee should not create unfavorable media coverage for the company. Doug's DUI received world-wide media coverage as "US Airways CEO Doug Parker....".

Violation of either is listed as a terminating offense.
Jim, What about not cooperating with an investigation? Parker initially refused a breatholizer test, and he told the police that he had about 3 beers in 2 hours. According to his license he is 6'3" and 220 lbs.,IIRC, which means that he would have to have consumed at least double the 3 beers in that timeframe, according to PENNDOT's scale on their website. Do you think these are serious enough offenses to be terminated? After all, lying to the authorities can not be desireable for an airline CEO.

Jim, What about....
That's getting beyond my very limited expertise. From some comments posted at the time, it may have been within his rights to refuse the breathalyzer as long as he took the blood test. Don't know if that's right or not, but I would want to know for sure before I hung that on him.

Likewise, there's lying and there's lying. Maybe he was at the event for 3 hours and had 3 beers - they just happened to have been consumed within the last 30 minutes he was there. Maybe he only had 3 but they were big ones. Maybe he lost count. So again, I wouldn't give him any punishment for consciously lying without more accurate info.

Outside of Dougs drinking could we get to the main issues here.If the board want to keep him so be it for now.Shaming this man in public is not going to solve anything.
Id like to focus on the meetings. When the PHL meeting goes puplic so you all can see it,please compare it to the PHX meetings and look at what is going on here.

I watched the PHX meetings and my heart goes out to you all,for the way you are being treated. For your low pay scales. And for your bad equipt. We have the same issues on the east side.Dougs attempt to blame all this on the east side,in relation to the change of control snapback being what is holding things up is just splitting the forces. We all want you up to our pay scales.

Fact one,he could do that if he wanted. He knows that when the contracts are merged he will be doing it anyway. There is nothing stopping him from giving anyone a raise.Hes not telling you the truth.Your contracts are being over seen by the IAM now and there is no one there that would say, dont give them a raise. He is just saving money period.Raising your pay will not slow down any agreement forth coming.

This goes for ramp and maint,I know what you guys out west in maint are making and it sucks,Im talking about all maint that is not on the A&P scale.I feel for you guys in ground maint,I understand what your saying, the rest of maint is confused some dont know of the pay scale differance.

I dont know the ramps scale but ours starts @ 9.00 hr if Im not wrong.I know there working on more but he could bring you up if he desired.
I know the snap back seems like a waist of time to some of you.But please understand,if this goes through and the IAM wins all of you can be brought up to that scale, wich is my humble hope for you all.I didnt get to go to a meeting here,I wasnt invited Doug wont talk to maint.

Regards ALLSTRIKE

Could not help my self was to good!
Well said allstrike! It is nice that we are starting to understand what each other have had to deal with and start to think of each other as one not E/W. I was told and I don't have this in writing that the IAM is going to treat the change of control and the transition as TWO separate issues, This comes from a man I trust on the west negotiations team for MX. The 21/22 are not far off this may be a window to what is next. Have a good one my BROTHERS

I know, its hard to pass up.But a drunken horse can sober up and change.I hope he does that,I wish him well there.

As for the rest, when that lady said we had employee's coming to work hungry that hit a hard note with me.It did.In 1983 I started in this industry making 7.50hr.My son ate lots of pot pies and I hate it till this day.May he forgive me.lol

Thats the reason she got to me.Whats going on out there is not right. At least he admits he is getting what he pays for.A crappy airline.Doug the people express model wont work here pal...open the walet and feed your people.

And yes to the best of my knowledge wich is little. The 2 issues are being treated independent of each other,it should be that way.But us little folks do not hear what goes on in the negotiations in the east,we have no idea were they are except for the union flyers put out.More updates would be nice.

Some states the Breath Alyzer isn't a viable option, many times they issue incorrect readings. I am not saying either way drunk or sober, but if you know that you were drinking, it would be wiser to submit a blood or urine sample. You can have just a swig of beer and the Breath Alyzer may give a false reading, the concentrated breath. If you think you are not over the limit, the Blood is the way to go for the most accurate reading. But with most if not all states setting the limit at .008, it does not take much for the average person to get that far. Some people are capable of handling themselves at that level rather well, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. When I drank, I would not touch the wheel of a car. My life is more important to me. I am not condoning no one on this but it is My decision. I have my company to run and I never wanted to put myself in that predictament and embarrassment.

I BET DP doesn't feed his kids cup noodles soup or Ramon's soup as the main meal of the day and hot dogs are the main meat on the table Pot pies thees days at $7.50 hr you are splurging. 🙁

in most states, the moment you decline a breathalyzer you've broken the implied consent law. seasoned alcoholics and multiple offense dui offenders will often decline the breathalyzer test and request a blood test. why? for the very simple reason that they believe that the time it will take to transport them to the hospital and have blood drawn will lessen their BAC. that is, incidentally, a myth. BAC continues to rise for up to two hours after the last gulp. the obvious variables being amount of food consumed and drinking history, i.e., liver damage. so, yes, it was within DoUgIe's rights to request a blood test; his reasoning, however, are clearly less than...pure, IMO, of course.
