PHL LECP double dipping just like predecessor?

I think at this point attention needs to be focused on the upcoming elections. The process should start sometime in early February and end in late April.

Let's get all the information out for those of you who want to walk around on your ballet slippers you are not capable of making the Changes that have to happen .If this beaten group of employees will live to see the light of day, whoever runs, will be fighting the incumbents and the entire MEC, they too are part of not rocking the cradle.

The pay issue aside, are you sure people wouldn't make that same complaint if this guy stopped flying?

Bear, if I was a member of that Local I would expect the officers to be in the office and available, except when travelling on union business. The only exception is flying just enough to stay current, and even then just for a one or two day trip once a month. There is no reason I can see to take a four day trip to BRU.

Just wanna add my thought on this subject... I think they should all get their 105 hrs for their pay everymonth..and they should have to be in the office 5 days a week. If they want to fly on Sat or Sun(off days) they should be able to. BUT they should not be aloud to work both days..the company stopped the reserves from flying 7 days in a row...why should they be aloud to work
M-F and then pick up weekend trips? OR just do your union job that you were elected for..and stop taking the ETB trips that us starving reserves are trying to pick up! Give me 105 hrs everymonth..I will go in there M-F and not pick up ETB.

Just my 2 cents 😀

Thats exactly what I was saying! Once a month. A one day trip. Just to stay up on whats going on. I dont understand why they are getting away with taking ETB trips that reserves could be picking up.

Ok, here is what I’ve found out.

John Claims 108 per month in Flight Pay Loss (FPL) per the direction of Cindy Simone in Tempe. Labor Relations has set this amount.

Because PHL is such a large base with over something like 3000 flight attendants, the base has the budget to support this amount. Charlotte would also have about the same amount of FPL for the LECP and smaller bases would have less, it is based on membership count and established by the company.

Our AFA Constitution and Bylaws (C&B) has compensation guidelines for LEC officers, it covers and sets limits on mileage reimbursements, housing, expenses, meals…it’s found at www.afanet.org it however, does not discuss how officers are to use the pay in the local. This is done because different councils at all AFA carriers have different types of reimbursement from the airline for union work.

Being previously involved in union work I will tell you that it is not a 9-5 job like some on this board seem to think. I had folks calling me at all hours of the day and night and there is no way to control that. As a rep, your number/email is out there and you are going to get those calls. I can tell you from my experience that you will put in many hours working for the membership that you are never reimbursed for.

If our reps are in the office from 9-5 Monday thru Friday should we expect them to take our call at 9 PM on Saturday because scheduling is trying to pull something…should they take the call?

Let me put it this way…you just finished doing a one day and scheduling asks you to do a PBI turn, are you going to do it? It’s the same thing. I hear from folks that John calls them back and has worked on their behalf after hours and even from his trips that he’s working. I have personally seen evidence on emails forwarded to me that he is responding at 2AM, are we paying him for that time? Would you do the same?

Some may not like the job he is doing or that he is doing enough, some may have issue with “idea†he is taking time from others but you cant make everyone happy…ESPECIALLY in Union work.

ETB trips are First Come, First Serve any time he takes off the board would be awarded just like anyone else there are no special rules for John. I personally don’t agree with taking 108 hours of FPL and then also flying on top of that, but any line holder that SAPs in 108 could do the same thing, it does not violate any AFA guidelines. I also found out that John does not claim all the expense money he could and never claims any expenses for the days he is flying because the company is paying per diem.

I want folks to know the facts...

Now you are all connecting the dots it is a TOUGH job but it truly requires dedication that will take a toll on your life in many ways .If you do not love it and your flight attendants are not the passion in your blood then just go for the money and let others take your place. Most Union newbies miss there 160 hour plus paychecks .Make up your mind is it the flight attendants or the old mighty dollar you can not do the job and have it both ways.

I disagree!!!!!

If we (as reserves) have to follow a 24/6 rule so should they.

Can you be on duty Monday thru Friday (5 days) and then pic up a 2 day trip (day 6 and 7)??? NO, you can't!!!!

They should not be able to either....

You must have misunderstood what I said...I am saying just what you said! If I am not aloud to pick up more than 6 days..neither should they. If they want to do a 1 day on sat OR a 1 day on Sun ...then so be it. But NOT a 2 day. Then go back to work Mon morning and work all week..no absolutely not. Why cant I pick up a 2 day after being on duty M-F ??

i think we need to have hard evidence of this before we accuse jm on a public message board . does someone have any? is what he is doing illegal? if not ,who cares. sounds to me like someone's stirring the pot because elections are coming up.

The fact is we spend so much time fighting each other, and the company walks all over us and the contract.

This posting is starting to sound more and more like someone pissed that John took a trip that they wanted or trying to stir the pot and get folk riled up before the elections.

my 2 cents
