I think at this point attention needs to be focused on the upcoming elections. The process should start sometime in early February and end in late April.
C'mon people...can't you guys unite, pick an intelligent, honest group to run on a ticket that will unify all the f/as to go up against management. You guys really need an honest to goodness change in leadership.
There will be NO change, if you guys don't VOTE change!!!
You need candidates who will ensure transparency in how they spend your dues, their schedule and dependability, integrity, eithical responsibility and ccountibility to the group!
THIS TIME, DON'T TAKE YOUR EYE OFF THE GOAL; AND THE GOAL IS CHANGE LEADERSHIP AND SO COMES CHANGE IN THE WAY BUSINESS IS CONDUCTED!!!
I write this to you because I still hear from many f/as who e-mail me regarding their utter frustration with their plight and the lack of change specifically when the company is profiting hundred's of millions, and the union is only changing the dues which have risen while all of you are in concessionary contracts.
I've met some pretty unique and hard working, passionate folks based in PHL...they are there, ask them to run. Look among yourselves, its right in front of you!!!
If you make change in leadership in your base, they can put the MECP on notice and the negotiating committee, either change business as usual, or they are out too. You guys have the vote to do it in PHL.
The only base LECPs I trusted in my term was BOS and LGA, and they are still in office. They are your alies and are passionate about the group. I am sure they will assit any newcomers who ask for assistance. And, those bases will unite and be the main f/a group's representatives against those base leaders who fear management, who will be cast to the way side, and this group will go up against managment to FORCE CHANGE and get a joint contract to go nto the future while the profits are coming in.
Trust me guys, its just not that hard to run a local office...its being at the "round table" of the MEC will YOU will make an imprint. Your current leadership in PHL are once again, waiting for the MECP to tell HIM what to do at your local.
Your LECP will just continue the same-old;same-ole and staycompletely under the radar specifically because the election is coming around. He will lie, knive, scheme, and double-talk his way back in office for 3 more years collecting your dues $$$. He will tell you what you want to hear, and in the end...you guys will be at the same old place you are now...no where.
Keep in mind, McCorkey won on less than 300 votes in your base. Support one candidate for LECP to go up against him and unite all your votes. Don't have too many folks run for president, as this will take away from votes to get this sneak out of office.
