RDU AMT REDUCTION

What priority is given to getting these contract calls taken care of? Or is it done grudgingly, we are busy and can't be bothered? I don't mean from the management side, I mean from the amt's point of view.

What you are so in touch with management views now from your corporate union leadership in Tulsa, that you have to ask the AMT view on the internet bulletin board?

Go figure.

Why do we have to come up with anything? The company wants $23 million more? Who cares? Take it from the executive bonus package.

The fact is we gave them $600 million and they claim they still cant make a go of it. $23million is going to make a difference?

If they are so hurting then why dont they put their fleet to better use? Everyday we have at least a few aircraft that just sit around, if they are broke, they just stay broke. They dont even bother to hold OT to fix them. JFK is just one station, I have to wonder how many sit around in DFW, ORD, LAX, MIA etc. Hell if they got rid of all these extra airplanes they could easily save their $23 million.

The fact is they continue to piss away money. Construction at JFK is still going on, none of those guys took pay cuts, but if you go into JFK you will see a huge sign thanking them for the terminal that our paycuts are paying for!

How much are they paying the Boston Consulting Group for that PLI dog and pony show? How much have they paid out to employees to attend that thing?

They will offer to pay 400 guys two hours pay for PLI but let a broken airplane sit in the hangar instead of paying OT to fix it.

The priority given to the Federal Marshalls engine change for a measly $15k cost the company a days worth of revenue on another MD-80 waiting for an engine change. This happened 3 weeks ago when management tied up the engine change crew for 24 hours and charge them a below cost price while a AA MD-80 sat for 24 hours for its engine to be changed. So how much of a loss did we take on this work? You don't do contract work when you're not manned for your own work.

Look, line MX needs to come up with 23 million in savings minus whatever the value of closing RNO is. Now this is funny, at DFW, we have come up with several ways for the company to save buckets of money daily on fuel, consumable goods, and better production not to mention decreasing delays and all we got was blank stares from upper managment. This company and our union are crying poor but when we approach them with cost saving ideas, we get excuses about time, costs to implement them, and lack of cooperation from other work groups or it's not worth my time or effort (we've heard the same from other work groups frustrated about managment's lack of interestet in actualy saveing money). Saving 23 mil is possible without cutting heads or closing stations but no one, our union included, wants to listen.

Given the number of operational spares (10) and unassigned MD80's (2), I'm fairly certain that the MD80 you're complaining about could have sat for a week or two before it started to impact the schedule.

Arent you getting the picture yet? They want the $23 milllion from YOU.

The only way they will stop coming back for concessions is when we throw out the TWU and threaten to shut the place down.

Bob Owens,

YOU and I(and a "few" others on here), know that what you just said(above) is "GOSPEL"

But It's AMAZING how many AA AMT's "still don't get it" !!

To that, I say, "Bob, save your breath" !!

After a while, It's easy to STOP feeling sorry for people "who DON'T get it' !!!

Let AA and "their" Union CLOSE the small stations.
Let them furlough 1000 AMT's !

You have done SO much , trying to EDUCATE these "LEMMINGS", that I say to you, "just sit back, SAFE in JFK, work to rule, and SAVE YOUR BREATH" !!

I know, for a guy like you, that is HARD to do.

But, my friend, after a while, you've got to feel like "your feeding STRAWBERRY's TO THE PIGS" !!!!

Last time I checked the line AMTs were over 90% for AMFA. Do we participate and have a voice involved in the decision making process, or do we sit back and let the chips fall?

NHBB, close the small stations? If it happens to line MX, you can bet fleet service won't be far behind. B)

Vortilon,
Your right on both points !

I just hope I LIVE long enough to see the(SCUMBAG) twu VOTED out by the membership in both MX and FS.

But Unfortunately, (sadly) valiant efforts by yourself, Bob Owens(and others), are at present "Like feeding STRAWBERRIES TO THE PIGS" !!!!!!!!!

SADLY(For MX), as long as TULSA is in existance(In good ol' boy, right-to-work, REPUBLICAN OKIE-HOMA), I doubt any of us will see the TWu(se less), "get the FU**ING BOOT" !!

I fear those numbers might be lower in view of the NWA situation.

However, even if support for AMFA is less, a seething anger toward the TWU is steadily growing, even though it seems to have no outlet. Since the TWU leadership (appointed, not elected) now knows that there is no danger of being thrown out in favor of AMFA, they have Carte Blanche to give away the store for whatever they can get from the company in return.

Wrench, Unfortunately for us on the line, your statement could not be more true with regard to the TWU leadership.

Could of flown that PVD route and made a couple of bucks. 😛 😛

Bob, you one of the guys who will be back after they cut the headcount, a la NWA 🙂

Don't you get the picture yet Bob?... First off, Tulsa will never vote out the TWU as long as they make decent wages and we all know expensive it can be too live in OK. And they still have the numbers to control the vote. Second, in this era of "I got mine" and "done and down" way of thinking with A/C mechanics nowadays. there is no way AA has to worry about a shutdown with any union on property. Supervisors and mechanics will cut deals, guys will want to get done quick so they can get thier 4 hrs of sleep so they can go to thier day jobs and the operation will keep on rollin even if guys like you and me do our best to "work safe" or "by the book". Our craft just isn't what it used to be with so mant of our co-workers out for just themselves.

You've hit the nail on the head midnights. I call it IGM Airlines. At my station 4 hrs is on the low side. It usually averages about 6+, with as much as 7.5 hrs out of a 10 hr shift. It's hard to keep the faith in this industry when this is allowed to happen by both the company and the union.
