As for laws, if they do no accomplish any thing, why have any?
Abolish all of them.
Law and Order types seem to think that laws do make a difference, laws like three strikes provisions, and tougher sentences for crimes committed with a gun, and tougher sentences for crimes committed near a school, criminalization of marijuana, even speed limits.
Except when it comes to gun regulations, then laws are irrelevant.
What sense does that make?
Logically, why wouldn't some common sense knowledge and skills requirement combined with a truly universal background check make some difference. Criminals might still have guns. None of the shooters in these "mass shootings" were "criminals" until the shooting. They were all "mentally unstable" - according to the right wing apologists.
