Trump (never declared but polled high), Bachmann, Cain, Perry and now Gingrich are or have polled high, most higher at one point than Romney. More than likely Gingrich will sink as well once his policy inconsistency are pointed out to the masses.

My question is this. What is so wrong with Romney? I do not care for him that much and I do not care for some of his views but he is the only one who has remained constant. Is it because he is moderate or because he is a Mormon or is it something else. Looking at all the flashes in the pan it seems like the RNC is looking for anyone but Romney but he is the only consistent one among the bunch. SO far all the ones who have lead in the polls at one point or another have shot out of the gate like they were on fire only to splash down after a short run. Bachmann cannot even get traction on not being asked questions in the last debate. I guess she does not get that since she is polling single digits that no one cares about here any more.

So what is so wrong about Romney?

Ask and you shall receive, seek and ye shall find. Below are Twit Romney's top contributors. Notice a pattern?

Goldman Sachs $367,200
Credit Suisse Group $203,750
Morgan Stanley $194,300
HIG Capital $186,500
Barclays $157,750

Let's tak a look at Ron Paul

Ron Paul for Congress Cmte $500,000
US Army $24,253
US Air Force $23,335
US Navy $17,432
Mason Capital Management $14,000

Pretty interesting and stark contrast. Can't speak for true Republicans but it appears that Mr Romney has done a far better job of Occupying Wall Street then the rest of the field. You have to ask why the anti war candidate gets so much military support.Could it be they know that he's right???

Wait a second. Are you telling me that politics is financed by big business????????

And this makes him different from any of the other candidates how?????? Why is everyone hoping on every band wagon that comes along except Romney's? Bachmann, Cain, Perry and now Gingrich. Do you see a trend?

The military does not give money to canidates.

You are correct and incorrect at the same time. The US military doesn't contribute to any candidate anytime anywhere. However contributions by active US Military individuals are accounted for as an aggregate similar to a PAC. Ron Paul gets more money from active military than all other candidates combined.

@Ms Tree,

Dr. Paul receives nearly 96% of his considerable funds from individuals. This by far the highest percentage of all the candidates. Oddly enough Barack Obama got 88% of his war chest from individuals in 2008. This go around it's a bit different, here are the "Bundling" numbers to date.

Top Industries of Obama Bundlers Industry

Lawyers/Law Firms $9,900,000
Securities & Investment$9,400,000
Business Services $5,950,000
Real Estate $5,050,000
TV/Movies/Music $4,150,000

Nothing here is much of a surprise. Ron Paul looks like this:

Total Raised: $12,623,422
Total Spent: $8,948,654
Cash on Hand: $3,674,768
Debts: $0
Date of Report: Sep 30, 2011

Individual Contributions
$12,122,816
- Small Individual Contributions 6,075,354 (48%)
- Large Individual Contributions 6,114,372 (48%) (96%)

PAC Contributions $0 (0%)
Candidate self-financing $0 (0%)
Federal Funds $0 (0%)
lOther $500,605 (4%)

So re-elect Obama and get back to me.
Well let's see. In 2008 the RNC provided us with McCain and then torpedoed him with Palin so I voted against McCain/Palin. So far the RNC is trying to do the same thing for 2012. The current crop of idiots leaves me little choice but to vote for Obama for a second term. My biggest concern about Romney is if he gets in office with a republican Congress I think we are screwed. Given the knee jerk reactions the republicans now in office are having and the fact that they have not come up with any viable alternative to counter act the dems I would be very concerned.

Sorry, I guess I was unclear with my question. I was addressing viable candidates.

So vote for Obama and go socialist.....you deserve it as there is no religion there.

Ms Tree,
The GOP as a whole see Mitt as a R I N O (repug-in-name-only), it's a simple as that, no need to look any further !! I lived in an abbuting state, during Mitt's entire reign as Governor of Massachusetts. The next-door state of NH....DETESTED him, and soundly proclaimed him as a DEMOCRAT in Repug clothing.
And NO ONE "Busted them" Louder than former BUSH sr. chief-of-staff, and Godfather of the NH Repug party than John Sununu sr. (ahh...FAST FORWARD/Time heals all wounds).... BIG JOHN sr., Loudly ENDORSED MITT for NH in the primary. (When BIG JOHN speaks in NH, Every NH repug listens VERY Intently)

So whats the bottom line here. Old man Sununu is signaling that...MITT is the O N L Y repug...who has a "Chance" to beat B O. I DAM near SHET , when I saw(on a NE cable news channel) BIG JOHN back-slapping, thumbs-upping good ol' Mitt ! In the rest of my lifetime, the Democrats could NEVER "out-hypocracy" the GOP.

Oh, and for good measure,...when you throw in the Tea Party and SC/Bob Johns University/bible-THUMPING crowd, poor ol' MITT is T O A S T (like in B U R N T- T O A S T ) With this piss poor GOP line-up, if this were Hillary they were running against, they would have FORFEITED the whole dam campaign. !!!!!!!!!!!

I am not incrorrect. As I said before the armed services do not contribute money to political canidates. Individuals who happen to be in the military do. So to list the US Navy, US Army and USAF as contributors is misleading. And if you do the math it's really not that much. In the case of the USN it comes out to be around five cents per sailor.

It's the way contributions are accounted for and for the record whether it's a nickle or a penny it's MORE by a factor of three when compared to the other Republican candidates COMBINED! The real point of order is that if you want to learn about what's really going on with a candidate it's quite simple. FOLLOW THE MONEY! In Dr. Paul's case it's hard to do as 96% are individual contributors, so like his views or not he's pretty much unowned as a politician can be.

I'm not sure in my mind why he resonates with the military as well as he does as Obama does well too. Given they are polar opposite politically you wouldn't think they'd do well.
