When was the ACS function added to Sabre?

I've worked with several check-in systems and consider ACS to the best. When US switched to Sabre, many users disliked the ticketing functions, but most thought ACS was an improvement over the PNR based check-in that was used in PACER.

(Those of you who look at the lovefest that is the US board know that the switch to QIK/SHARES from Sabre has been pretty rough. Don't knock Sabre)

Airport Check-in System. It replaced NCI (Name Check-in System) and took about four years to build. The first prototypes were shown in 1993, and then Sabre built the real thing during 1994 and 1995. It was originally supposed to implement in Feb 1996, but was put on hold for a couple months to work out bugs. Tim Ahern and Bob Glaser were responsible for the airport rollout IIRC.

I found some files on my laptop N*ACS CALLS and N*APS96041 (which might still exist in Sabre, since nobody ever cleans out old star records), and it looks like the implementation was on Wednesday, June 19th.

If so, that means tomorrow is ACS's 11th birthday...
