Seniority for non- revs lost?

Senority can not be manipulated. Your ID states your hire in date. The reason the date is on there is due to past manipulation and F/A's that lied about there date of hire to get to the front of the line at check in.

That can't true.

The date on my ID is my hire date at US Airways and not my non-rev date. My non-rev DOH is from PSA Express, and as a wholly owned carrier of US Airways I am entitiled to use this date for non-rev. My PSA Express DOH is the date listed in the computer as my non-rev date.

This date is used for non-rev only and not for the jumpseat. For the jumpseat you have a card that lists your hire date. Failure to bring the card results in you going last on the list for the jumpseat regardless of seniority.

My Mainline DOH is used for the jumpseat.

I like what I am familiar with. DOH! After 23.5 years it was earned.

Having said that, if we do go FCFS, I will not *itch & moan as I rarely fly, So it will not really have a big impact on me. I interline more than fly US, so im used to FCFS.

My .02 cents and my 100th post!!!!

I am mainline and my DOH is on my ID not seperate card for jumpseating...sorry.

Sorry, I am mainline too and this card has been around several years. You can pick it up from your supervisor.

You can still jumpseat without it, but they are supposed to list you last on the list and not by seniority if you don't have the card.

I have seen nothing that has said this has changed and I just picked up a replacement card for a lost one.

Anyway, my orginal point was that the date used for non-reving is not my mainline DOH. My non-rev date is not listed on any card, but stored in the computer and the gate agents can see it when they pull up my information.
So, adding the DOH to the ID cannot be tied into non-reving as this date would be different for a large number of employees. It is possible that when they activate the new employee numbers that the Seniority card will no longer be needed to jumpseat.

Oh well. Hopefully today they will tell us what it will be FCFS or DOH to non-rev.

have a super day

PLAN AHEAD I for one if it goes FCFS not looking forward for 0300 AM WEB-CKINS and bugging/relying on a friend and giving my personal PIN to someone to check you in.
If you have a co-worker check you in they dont need your personal PIN. They use their PIN to sign into compass, and they can check in any non-rev as long as they have the PNR #

DOH is my choice. Opps I forgot I,am now retired [ NOT BY MY OWN CHOICE ]

So I,am now on the bottom of the list. Yes I do get ONE S1 a year. Thank you.

But having to get another job that does not have the luxury of swapping days to extend

my time off. I wont be traveling much anyway.

I thank USairways for their treatment after 36 years of service.

We are in a merger. There are going to be changes for both sides.
Everyone can cop the attitude that "we deserve it" in support of their system. The truth is, we all have to accept the fact that there are going to be changes, and stop acting like their side is getting screwed.
There are more important things in life to deal with...

I do believe for those that commute and certainly far distances will see some change to the way they work. If a senior person finds that they can't get on a flight after their european trip may fly domestic instead. When transfers open in different bases a switch to FCFS will almost certainly push people to move closer to home. It can be a big domino effect considering how many folks at east commute versus west.

The big question is are you west or east? I'm east and have never heard of this seperate card or have I been asked for it on either the west side or the east side and I jumpseat often.

Did you hear they will give news today or is that just speculation?

sky high states: Mergers date back to 1968-Allegheny and Lake Central, 1972-Allegheny and Mohawk, 1986-Piedmont and Empire, 1988-USAir and PSA, 1989-USAir and Piedmont.
This company has been ALL ABOUT CHANGE.
Having been through SEVERAL MERGERS at USAirways, you AWA people need to realize that OUR EXPERIENCE comes with the WISDOM to know and forecast issues that will result in some of these changes, being MISTAKES.

only stating opinions.

Mama says, The west does not see FCFS as a mistake. Just an opinion.

What "they" tell us: We're taking the best of both carriers. When policies or procedures differ, we won't favor West or East.

What "they" do: It seems regarding most everything, the "West" way of doing things is how things will be done.

Seems to me, for West people to favor doing something the East way would imply they (the West) had been doing something that was less than might have been.

seniority can be and IS manipulated.
Last week a coworkers mother was non reving
MCO PIT. I was checking the list and found a CJ
employee listed as s3, above the coworkers mother, a s4.

CJ in not owned and are cat. s5.

The gate was notified and the error corrected. My coworkers mother got the last seat on the flight.
The CJ employee did not get on.

If it causes such a division, perhaps management may need to put an end to this "hard earned" benefit....for the employees sake.

I had a situation in PIT where I was nonreving over to PHL with one of my girls. We were already listed and the flight was wide open. Well, I was told that he'd call my name yet when SHE went up (being junior to me by almost a year)got a seat right away. Now the guy working the gate was an older black man. My girl is a VERY attractive black woman who his dirty old man A$$ was all over. I walked right back up to him and said, "listen pal, I know I'm not a fiiiiine looking sista but you better go ahead and print that boarding pass real quick". He said he didn't know I was senior to her. Ok there are NEW agents in PIT now. The Jackass. Then I went over to her and said, girl you better give me the better seat. LOL. Kidding.

sky high states: And for the company's sake, it better realize that over "80 PERCENT" of the flight crew's COMMUTE to work. Perhaps Management may want to take another stab at the corporate culture thingie, I make US fly.
