Anyone else hear it will be FCFS on March 4 when sabre is replaced. Talks of a sick outs are statring to get around.

Go ahead and call out sick....there are enough rsv's sitting around more than happy to pick up the slack. Whatever..... 🙄

Whats your source? I have been waiting to hear what the outcome would be. Along with the possible DL merger and profitsharing I was wondering if a decision would be announced. A sickout is ridiculous. Save it for more important things. Lets not screw our customers over this, they would be the ones to suffer. Mama

100% False. Sent yesterday from our East MEC:

NON REVENUE TRAVEL

Rumors have been circulating the Company has decided to use a
first come first serve system versus a seniority based system
for non revenue travel. As late as Friday, senior Company
officials have told me that no decision has been reached
regarding the boarding method for non revenue travel.

East agents are being trained on the former America West,
SHARES, reservation system. The Company plans to "cut over" to
the SHARES system in March. The current SHARES system is set up
for first come first serve but the system can be changed at any
time.

I do not know what boarding method the Company will decide to
use. I do know the Company would not inform one group of
employees prior to making a general announcement to ALL
employees. AFA and the other East labor groups have lobbied
strongly for a seniority based system as we feel it is the only
fair method of determining non revenue boarding priority.

As for a sickout, give me a break. 🙄 Still waitin for that PHL Thanksgiving, I mean Christmas, I mean New Years sickout.....

Yeah, what mama said!

Just a question as I have no real interest other than to gain additional understanding.

I can see both sides of the argument frankly so I'm not getting sucked in this debate.

But is one of the reasons the East wants it by seniority due to the number of folks who commute?
NO, lots of f/a's on the west side commute, too. The East want's seniority : "we deserve it" is the mntra from the East side.

Piney,
I'm sure that has a lot to do with it for some, but for others...east and west alike, they feel that their way of doing it in the past is the most fair.

In the end, either 27 years gets me on, or careful planning gets me on.

Its about all we have left in the business. Pay your dues and put in the time I believe its the only fair way. Sure some will not like it but given some time, they to will appreciate senority. Those of us on the "East" will be feeling the same as the current "Westies" should the Delta merger go through, but that is the way it goes.

Piney, as a seasoned road warrior as yourself, with some airlines the frequent flyer enjoy a few more perks than the person who flys maybe once every few years as they should. I look at my senority as like those benefits of a frequent flyer.(Although I realize those perks are disappearing each day)

That's not quite true. Perhaps it is a true representation of some of the east folks who post here, but it is not a complete representation of the East as a whole. Believe it or not, the majority of the east wants what ever is best for the company and are not afraid of change.

Another good form of reasoning would be the wage "B" scales. The maintenance end of the operation along with most other have a wage scale which increases with years of service up to the max. A new hire makes a considerable amount less than the mechanic with 10 years of service. You are compensated more the longer you have been with the company. Although all would love to be topped out no matter on years of service, its just not going to happen until you put in your time...at least that is the companys point of view..... 😛

Bob:
This MY opinion only, I feel it's about the only thing we have left. Seniority either gets you on or it doesn't.
