People, people calm down. What MAA is saying is essentially right, we need to hold our coworkers and management as accountable as they hold us. There is nothing wrong with that view, in fact, good management holds themselves as accountable as they hold their peons.
MAA is also right that if we do not form a common bond and realize that MANAGEMENT IS THE ENEMY not east/west, then we will get a lousy contract.
Now, there are a lot of pissed off people about this merger. Honestly, if anyone, east or west does not like it, then either change it or leave. It really is that simple. I think it is easier to work together to change it than leave but maybe I am an idealist.
On a final note, I did read this whole thread, the word legacy was brought up many times. Lets remember that we are no longer a legacy, we are just using the legacy name. Everything is changing and will change. Change is a part of everyday life. Does that mean that management should not be held accountable, HELL NO. What it means is that we, as the rank and file, need to try to open our minds just a little tiny bit to the idea that maybe, just maybe, the old way was NOT the best way.
There have been improvements on both coasts. The snack basket is coming out west and our first class pax are going to love it. Glassware is coming back out east. The meals have been improved in first and predeparture beverage service is supposed to be done across the board! So, lets continue with the good things.
AND, lets work together to show this management team the sheer power of our size! Lets HOLD them accountable and get a decent contract. I mean, we are profitable right?
