The Struggle Is About To Start.

It is time for ALL THE UNION LEADERS to get off their dead _ _ _ and call a nationwide strike for 72 hours of all unions of all airlines. I'm also including the Teamsters Truckers.Shutting down the transportation in the U.S for 72 hours would give the workers a public forum to voice their concerns. As it stands right now no one is listening.

YeaH. Thats the answer! Take an industry that is bleeding billons and cut off the revenue for three days and force the incursion of costs of distressed passengers, hotel rooms and lost bags! Remember, most carriers are struggling (lets not get into why). The few that aren't won't be joining because they have theirs. and some are non union or at least several labor groups within each are non union. They will profit!

You said it, No one is listening. Remember Christmas? The public wasn't listening. They were the ones SCREAMING! They want the price and who is flying. Management carries alot of the blame no question. But getting more money from them is not going to save the airline. Think about it!

"It will be very interesting to see how the AMFA mechanics at UAL will vote in a few days."

They will do the same that you did and take it in the shorts! All talk till the final vote then you cave in and aren't SOOOO tough anymore with your tail between your legs!

Mr. Fish, FYI, I am NOT a US AIR employee. In fact I am an ex-EAL(IAM) employee. And former EAL employees seem to be the only ones without a "tail" and with a "set".

The management of companies can only take what the workers allow them to take whether its by concessions or a BK judge. The company won't have ANY money if the employees shut them down.
This is probably the best time for a strike in the past 30 years,It is foolish to strike when the company has lots of extra cash on hand and assets that are not being used as collateral for operating cash.
KICK THEM WHILE THEY ARE DOWN!

Did anyone on this forum see results of the Longshoreman's strike about 1 year ago on the west coast? They weren't even on strike 48 hours before major corporations such as Wal-Mart were screaming for their shipping containers with the merchandise. It did not take long for the union members to get the dispute resolved.
Management and Politicians think everything is fine if there is no rebellion and everything is status quo.

YOU need to think about it! The company has admitted that they under staffed the situation! OH, you didn't hear about that? Oh, that's right, they mentioned it a week later... After the workers took the hit! Just what this company always does, blame, blame, blame, then in small letters, sorry, it was our fault!

One LOSER here, YOU!

One of the worst things about this whole ordeal has been the lack of information from the IAM to its members!   Keep us in the dark and expect the dues to continue to pour in!

You obviously missed my point. I referenced managements failings. It is all about The public's perception. That was in the original post. Draining revenues and bringing no one to your side (and in fact driving them away) does not win the the battle or the war. Your last statement actually has an air of truth...The consequences of a 72 hour shutdown will be our fault. I would really like to hear what you think the upside of such an action would be. What do you think will be accomplished.

The loser crack really shows you are better than me

Respectfully,

LOL, and a new union will do what? The employee's have been paying their dues for years, and for that they're grateful, otherwise the real employees of us would have been outsourced 20 years ago. It's only because of unions that they still have jobs in the US. Because of greedy top management and customers that expect 49.00 tickets, that they had to bring unionization into focus. For a $49 ticket the consumer has used $120.00 in agent time worrying about reconfirming, seat assignments, meal service (or lack of), etkt or paper tkt (no one does paper tkts anymore), schedule changes, voluntary changes, baggage questions, aisle or window or middle, can I park my car, can I bring a hamloaf onboard? Next time you want a $49.00 ticket, figure out how important and how long it will take you to wait on hold and wait for someone to get the answer whether you can bring your goldfish onboard or not? For every question (and there are no stupid questions.....some just take longer than others: like "I have no money, will you let me fly standby?"....you'll have to pay more. Airline travel really needs to get back to it's roots of a dignified means of travel. It is not meant for everyone and is not a socially subsidized means of transportation. Once in a great while you get a real customer from the old days that is quoted a $1,000 ticket for a 2 hour flight, and with real class doesn't hesitate in their speech.
