This is the appropriate section of the latest version of the company ethics policy on the Hub - it may be out of date but I suspect any newer version says basically the same thing (emphasis mine):

You are prohibited from identifying yourself as a Company employee when posting comments on the Internet or on other on-line services. This rule applies even if a statement is included that clearly states that the user is expressing his or her own ideas and not necessarily those of the Company. This rule also applies where such posting is done from your personal equipment.

So feel free to post using your name, base, and position - just makes it easier for the company if they decide to take action. Personally, I never worried about the ethics policy before I retired since I sign every post with my first name and have given enough information to make it pretty easy for the company to identify me (just permanent bid committee work and living in NC would do it without looking at my picture/avatar). I just wouldn't expect many others to follow your example if you want to start identifying yourself, however.

Jim

Actually I already have in the past - specifically in exchanges with you, Jim.

Was not aware of the prohibition you cited. All the more reason to have a private web board up and running where pilots only can openly discuss pilot issues.

Appreciate you looking it up though.

Piedmont, I think that can be done if someone buys a server and then hosts the forum. I post on another forum that is totally private and is moderated but a person owns that server. There are no other boards on it. The mod on that board sometimes has to quell the flames and the owner has a "cornfield" too, but it is mostly alright...an exchange of ideas if you will. I hope this helps. 🙂 😀

There is no need to buy a server. There are many web outfits that will happily offer you space on their server for a very reasonable price. Five to ten dollars a month for server space, plus the purchase of the appropriate forum software, and you're in business.

It's really easy and cheap to set up. The day-to-day monitoring is the hard part. One advantage that the ALPA forums had was the fact that there were no "handles." Real names were identified with every post. That didn't always keep things rational and civil, but I am sure it had a sobering effect on a lot of posters.

Thank you for that. I didn't know. Since my avatar is a DC3, that ought to tell you something about how much I know regarding servers and such. You are a modern day Wizard of Oz about many things. I still bake from scratch. There is no snickerdoodle on earth compared to mine!  @@@@@@<-----here, try one.

How do you prove something that didn't happen? You can't prove a negative.
Okay, I know you semi-legal beagles sometimes get pretty focused on minutia, but, follow the logic.

a1a suggested the following:

ALPA tended not to sue the pilots employed under its contracts.

"Tended" in this context means the same as "mostly", hence, to make such a statement, a1a (hopefully) knows that while ALPA mostly did not sue ***** yadda, yadda, that there were cases that they did.

I simply asked a1a to give examples. I deliberately left it open ended, a1a could give an example where ALPA did sue or an example of where they could, but did not.

a1a is making an assertion for which there are no facts in evidence, that I know of. I would like a1a to back up his/her assertion. If it cannot be proven, then it is an assumption based on bias.

It would be like a pilot asserting that KXYZ weather, without verifying, is good, therefore an alternate would not be needed. Sorry, I need something based on other than someone's feelings before I would proceed.

Re-read post #196, please.

Yes, and I apologized for that. Your reference to it as minutia has merit in this type of forum. A wonderful example would be the Rules of Evidence. Some people spend the greater portions of their lives dealing with the minutia of admissibility, non-admissibility and the the exceptions to the rules.

I also re-read #196 and, IMO, it doesn't actually say much of anything actually factual. Whether ALPA has, or has not, sued any member is not something of which I have actual knowledge.

BTW, I did like your choice of "minutia" as a descriptive word. It was quite appropriate.

isn't that a DC-4 or DC-6 ?

the 3 was a tail dragger, and I think the -7 had 4 piston engines.

I'm wondering if we can get our hands on some... bring back the "heritage" with "heritage flights"

sleeper suites to China! and in only 55 hours! xD xD xD

Pit to Philly in 12 hours, with stops in altoona, williamsport, allentown, scranton, harrisburg, and hagerstown!

and speaking of heritage, how about this pic? memories!

My point. Neither does the poster. a1a simply tossed that "assertion" as if there was substance to it. I simply asked for an example, for which a1a, apparently, will not/cannot deliver.

The minutia is important. If we persist in speaking different languages, making stuff up as we go along, no grounds will exist for any negotiation. ever.

unless [satire] mode has been invoked. 🙄

Looks more like a Martin or Convair, its hard due to tell to the small size. But it is not a DC anything.

Oh boy, here we go again: usap has placed a full page ad in the USAToday. I have not personally seen it, but it is in regards to the fuel training broohaha usap is currently having with management.

A full page ad in USAToday is well into the 6 figure amount: http://www.usatoday.com/media_kit/usatoday...circulation.htm

Now, it is generally felt that the company is over-reacting with their new personalized fuel conservation training program, but with this ad, usap shows me that they pretty much hang out there with a hair trigger ready to fire at any moment. This is the same reaction they displayed with their Clogged Up Hotline lawsuit against AWAPPA and 100 John Does.

Is is always going to be Ready, Fire, Aim with these folks?

And even more importantly, are they going to be able to justify these 6 figure payouts with the usap minions? I guess its no problem for these yayhoos to be writing big checks left and right - apparently there's always going to be more bux right where that last bushelful came from.

Hey, if you don't pay dues what the hell do you care how USAPA spends it's money. Pay your dues then you can #### all you want.

Maybe they'll have to send out the 15 day letters sooner so that they can pay for the ad.

Maybe this would be a better avatar for you than a stapler....

You are quite correct! I will change it to the right aircraft. The dang thing is so little that I didn't notice I put the wrong one on. My bad! 😛h34r:

Do you remember an FA whose first name was Rocky? 😱

Thank you for noticing my error. No snickerdoodles for me today!
