US pilot labor thread 7/5-7/12

I also sincerely hope that the pretty extreme anger on this forum represents a few of the hundreds of pilots that work for your company and that the others have a more balanced...

Ladypassenger,

I think it's safe to assume that virtually every pilot flying passengers for a US based carrier is angry. What do you expect when you cut someone's pay in HALF, increase time away from home, gut thier retirement, and strip them of their quality of life? The average pax these days complains about everything. Flying is cheaper than driving yet pax endlessly complain about minor fare raises. Now you want happy pilots? If you want a happy pilot I think your only option is to jump in a box and ship yourself Fedex. Those guys/gals are still pretty happy.

Too bad its closed. I can't believe what I saw there. Amazing, still shaking my head in disbelief.

Hey NLC, do you ever think before posting? Or is your predisposed vitriol towards the east clouding your better judgment? Your latest attempt at discrediting any east pilot should earn you an award. That of
being _____ (Insert descriptive) of the year.

Just substitute eastus for NLC and then substitute west for each occurrence of east.

You will then have a post that is closer to the truth.

By the way - we had an awesome fish rise this morning. Nearly every cast resulted in an immediate strike. Conditions here are so "right."

Off to tie up some more flies before the evening run.

Y'all enjoy your day in the trenches now........

INTEGRITY MATTERS

NLC

To be fair, the fuel that the concern about is the destination arrival fuel, not flaming out over the Atlantic. The international flights are filed to a re-release point. If the flight does not have enough fuel to proceed past the re-release point, adjustments are made to the flight plan by the captain and dispatcher or the flight lands at a designated airport short of the destination.

True. The concern was/is one of having excessive administrative meddling in fuel management on flights that are, by nature, not at all "fat" on fuel to begin with. The european enviornment's prime turf for having weather go down, and so much can otherwise happen in the hours of flight involved just to "get there" in the first place. We can certainly all agree that the goal is to "get there", and not to land short of the destination.

NiceLandingCaptain: "By the way - we had an awesome fish rise this morning. Nearly every cast resulted in an immediate strike. Conditions here are so "right."Off to tie up some more flies before the evening run."

NLC, If that's the case; I'd say you're on a better track to a good vacation today. Since, by your earlier postings on the Madrid thread, you've apparently taken along at least your QRH, or have E access to documents, that you should also spend a bit of time considering peformance data and the attendant concepts, as you're DESPERATELY in need of much additional working knowledge therein. Special emphasis on abnormals involving no/partial flap landings and hot brakes procedures and considerations very STRONGLY "suggested". Seriously; If you ever, in person, offered up the entirely-ignorant, lunatic-drivel to ANY concerned check airman that you posted on the Madrid thread..you'd find yourself grounded="Requires Additional Training". Take care. have fun in the meanwhile.

Addendum: As I noted on the Madrid thread; I do NOT, for even a moment, assume that your nonsense is in ANY way reflective of the west pilots as a group. West folks have a fine record and this has nothing to do with the overall group.

EastUS,

Are you really an ACTIVE pilot?

I often wonder if someone can make 2604 posts (or 6.06 per day and only since May 07!) and still fly a full schedule.

Also it seems like you post day and night, all hours, and unless I'm mistaken, USAirways does not have inflight internet capabilities.

Or are you just bored sitting around the crashpad waiting for scheduling to call?

Take a walk or a run, go to the gym. Improve your quality of life and live longer. You've got to make it to 65 now, so take a lower stress approach to life.

And the west talks about the east and personal attacks from the "Bullies". You guys are a joke with your self righteous attitudes. I submit it seems to work both ways on making it personal.

Actually, I was genuinely curious how EastUS spends just about every waking moment on this message board.

I did modify my post, however, since you quoted it, the jibe at the end remains.

By the way, I am not a West pilot, or an East pilot. Simply a USAIRWAYS pilot, dues paying member of USAPPA. Looking forward to a new contract in the very near future.

Couldn't find any trenches on the beach at Barcelona, or Lisbon, or The Hague, or sipping wine in Paris on the Champs Elysees, or on the Plaza San Marco in Venice.

Maybe we just don't have all the trenches you do.

Yeah maybe, but I'll bet his per diem goes a lot farther than yours does!

N924PS"I did modify my post, however, since you quoted it, the jibe at the end remains." I can't tell you how much I admire any person of such steadfast convicitons = "I was taking it back...but I didn't do it fast enough to not get caught!"..."So yeah...now I mean it!"

No worries, as such scathing and scintillating brilliance as you generally offer affords me not the slightest stress="and maybe you can get off the meds" being fully exemplary of your finest work. Your concern is, of course, both touching and taken within the generous spirit its' given. As for "You've got to make it to 65 now" Actually? There's no need for me to fret over such, as I'm no slave to any job, but thanks again. 🙄 So you're a "dues paying member of USAPPA."? I'm pleased to hear that, but...that must pinch a bit...given your steadfast, prior pimping for alpa-nic...Ah well...life is what happens while you're making other plans...and if even you can find your way to considering yourself "Simply a USAIRWAYS pilot, dues paying member of USAPPA" I see great hope for the future. All issues have a way of eventually working out. Have a good evening.

PS: "Are you really an ACTIVE pilot?" Yes..are you? Seems odd that you've then so much time to fret over anyone's total postings,...😉

Quote below of N924PS, A former PSA pilot who benifited from a date of hire seniority list. In May 2007, this was his comment regarding the nic award.

924PS is interested in a joint contract for himself and has no regard for his fellow pilots.

"It is a bitter pill. But the West pilots did't create the merged list. The Arbitrator, assisted by two ALPA Pilot Neutrals rendered this award.

It's done. It's not fair. Close ranks and get a Joint Contract you can be proud of and live with for its duration."

924PS, men act if something is not fair, they use courage to make it right. You sir have no courage.

Are you certain you didn't mean AWAPPA, as to my knowledge there is no USAPPA?
US Airline Pilots Assn.

Touche'

Enjoying the finer things is a wonderful perk - kind of like a busman's holiday for you.

Those things are not for me though - I don't drink, I don't care for a lot of sun, and I like to spend my US dollars on American stuff, TYVM.

Back to my hot cocoa and warm campfire - and the best thing ever - my lovely lady. I'm having a REAL vacation.

Ciao,

NLC

I meant to type USAPA. Not a very good previewer, my bad.
