If executed properly, the merger could save thousands of jobs, and be a good thing in the long run. The key ingredient here is that whomever runs the combined airline must learn from the mistakes made during the US/HP merger, and NOT repeat them.

You know if JetBlue joined in this merger, I can see the name UnitedBlueUS as a possibility.

question is, what good would even come outu of this potential merger? I personelly dont see any thing good coming out of it

Keep in mind that the current US Airways dominance in the “East Coast Corridorâ€￾ is invaluable to any potential merger partner that already has a significant International presence.

The majority of all departing and arriving International travel in the United States originates within the route system that US controls in this "Corridor.â€￾

In summery… UA or anyone else for that matter, would be very interested in feeding hi-yield International routes from the US Domestic East Network.

I agree here, but I would do the following immediately and stick by it:

1. Do whatever it takes to get Gordon Bethune to stir this combined ship in the right direction.
2. If planned cuts and layoffs, provide a real seperation package that will actually encourage those that want to leave to go.
3. Pay parity for all employees for the highest paid wage all work groups.
4. Keep the 2 works groups seperate for 2 years..pilots forever LOL!!
5. Up the standards of the former US Airways to that of United.
6. Form committees of all work groups to communicate all valued information.

Just my thoughts.

Purge US of all things West and return to east standards that more closely mirror UAL. Lets's start with qik/shares and the incompetent USAIT dept and the CIO that mismanaged the res cutover from it's inception to present.

AP source: United, US Airways CEOs meet

Person with knowledge of meeting says United, US Airways CEOs talk, but no word on result

Mr. Parker, this source added, also was willing to step down from the company altogether if that was the only way to make the deal work. ...

Mr. Parker, this source added, also was willing to step down from the company altogether if that was the only way to make the deal work.

It was either become "CEO or step down."
Thanks for the good times, Doug. That DL thing was a hoot as well. Here are some lovely parting gifts.

Oh, and FlightChic, make that lite blue cheese dressing on my steak salad.

Some thought that this ‘merger’ was to consolidate and save $1.5 Billion a year only to discover it is a ‘power play’ between the executive class of both companies. 🙄 Who else is not surprised? 😛h34r:

Good luck to 'US' all
