VERY UNpopular decision coming soon...,

OOO NNOOO, say it isn't so Kreskin! Predicting an unpopular idea from U is like.... oh, predicting an earthquake will happen somewhere in CA today or Paris Hilton will do something stupid today.

Hmm. Weird for a rumour to spring up on a Saturday.

If they were going to eliminate it, one would think they would just announce it along with Mileagegate and Glassweargate. I know they are impulsive imbred morons, but I doubt they decided within two days to go ahead and eliminate first class.

Either way, it's looking like this will be the first management team I will not outlast...

Well if option #1 is true I suppose U will be leaving the Star Alliance as FC service I believe is a requirement?

This is not true, there is no requirement to have a domestic F cabin to be in the Star Alliance.

To add to the rumors, are they going to get rid of the clubs as well?

My membership expires at the end of the month, and I have not heard a word about renewal. I am not renewing, but it would be nice to be asked since I have been a member for about 10 years. And they have not done anything to fx the worn torn furniture in many of the clubs.

Just another example of them not wanting any of my money.

Please, Please... May the rumor be true that US Airways will be leaving the Star Alliance...SOON.

Thank you.

AMEN -_-

When was the last time they made a decision that was popular with anyone?

When was the last time they made a decision that was popular with anyone?

When was the last time "they" made a decision that was the plus side of profitable?

another question you need to ask. Assuming a board IQ greater than single digits, why the acquiescence of apparent stupidity on the part of the board? Better. If you see a "friend" diving for the edge of a cliff, would you try to save them or let them go? What would you do to change things?

Perhaps when they gave themselves bonuses? I am sure that decision was popular with them...

Seriously though, they should just decide what kind of an airline they want to be when they grow up and get to it already.

What they did to customers this week is just inexcusable...and I am sure it pales in comparison to what they have done to the fine folks who WORK at US.

My BEST to you all...

What the hell difference does it make to you who is in STAR?? How many years do you have 2, 3?? You're always spouting off at the mouth about how bad US is but let me ask what first hand knowledge you have or what makes YOU so superior and what negative effect US being in STAR has on you personally or professionally?? Please elaborate on these questions your Unitedness??

PSA had no First class and as I recall The Old U didn't have it either.

It took Piedmont to bring first into the equation (also International destinations).

As far as upsetting FAs by having no domestic First class-probably not.

If coach PAX would increase this COULD trigger an extra FA.

That doesn't sound likely to me.

As far as the nebulous suggestions on what is coming next, I suggest we begin another UAL buying US thread instead.

I think 903 had it right on when he said something about charging for drinks and pretzels in Coach. Taking F out I can't see unless they have completely lost it. Maybe going to a Business class thing like AirTran has maybe but that woud be about as far as that would go I think.

  1. It's just a personal preference. I don't think that US offers the revenue potential and synergies that Continental could. Continental has a heavy presence in the NYC market, with broad global reach. Secondly, they have a much stronger presence in Latin America. Both of these markets are UA's, hence STAR's, weakest links.

  2. How many years do I have? Where? United? Answer: 13

  3. When US joined STAR, they were not managed by the incompetency that seems to permeate from Tempe, Arizona today. At the time, US had a strong brand and a defined target market, which was the high-yield business traveler in the Northeast. To date, the "new" US has practically abandoned...and alienated...this target market. Continental seems to still embrace and value this target market, which is more in alignment with the values and standards of the STAR ALLIANCE.

  4. The policies of the Tempe administration have caused US to rank dead last in nearly every category operationally and in consumer complaints. Hence, I believe that US' performance and initiatives have brought the company to levels that are sub-standard. As such, I feel that the "new" US Airways reflects poorly on STAR ALLIANCE'S standards and reputation as a whole.

  5. Having started my airline career at PSA, and then having worked for the "former" US, there is still a bit of a soft spot in my heart for the well-being of the company and its brand. It saddens me to see what the brand has become under America West management.
Have I elaborated enough for you Stew?

Rather than imagining what the next dumb move will be (the possibilities are endless).

Give us a break and shut this thread down.
