What's new

WARNING : (to) U S House of Rep. - - - "Fiscal CLIFF AHEAD" !

Punishing the rich isn't going to work. They will find ways around it.

Neal Boortz is retiring from his job, and will have no income in 2013.

In the 1990's, Congress came out with a luxury tax on yachts and private jets, projected to raise $5M in 5 years. It wound up costing $4.5M in four years because the bill's authors never considered changes in behavior or the economy. A follow-up study by Congress found that the new tax destroyed 1470 jobs in the aircraft industry and 7600 in the boating industry.

Obamacare is going to wind up being the same type of disaster. Some companies are cutting back on employee hours, others are halting expansion. The following is probably one of the more creative ways of hitting back:

Archie Black Bears will notice it comes from a liberal website, thus it has to be true...

My loopholes are simple. Mortgage deduction, charity and for now whatever i put into my healthcare and 401k.

I feel the wealthy should have the same write downs I do.

I have four chickens that require food, water and labor to keep sanitary but I cant write it down. After all, it's a hobby. But, according to the news- taking it with a grain of salt, the Romneys can have a dancing horse and they can write it off on their taxes as a business that has no possibilty of making any more money than my chickens.

Close loop holes? Ok or open loop holes to the rest of us.
We have exactly the same tax deductions as the rich do.
We just can't exercise them because we don't qualify.
JMHO,
B) xUT

We dont qualify?

Im not punishing anyone Eric. I wouldnt ask anyone who made less than me pay more out of their income. Maybe It is pride. But i pay my way so should they.

Most politicians and pundits are aware of the problems we face but spend all their time in trying to reform government. The sad part is that the suggested reforms almost always lead to less freedom and the importance of a virtuous and moral people is either ignored, or not understood. The new reforms serve only to further undermine liberty. The compounding effect has given us this steady erosion of liberty and the massive expansion of debt. The real question is: if it is liberty we seek, should most of the emphasis be placed on government reform or trying to understand what “a virtuous and moral people” means and how to promote it. The Constitution has not prevented the people from demanding handouts for both rich and poor in their efforts to reform the government, while ignoring the principles of a free society. All branches of our government today are controlled by individuals who use their power to undermine liberty and enhance the welfare/warfare state-and frequently their own wealth and power.

Obama was right getting EU to cover before the election.

AFP - The European Union looks set for fresh trouble this week as an extraordinary summit called to agree a long-term trillion-euro budget heads for an ugly showdown, possibly even failure.
Already weakened by three years of economic crisis, the 27-nation bloc of half a billion people faces new trauma at the two-day summit starting Thursday after weeks of talks that have exposed stark divisions between pro- and anti-austerity nations, as well as between the haves and have-nots.
"It's a lose-lose summit," said a senior EU diplomat. "Absolutely no one will leave this summit content if by chance we reach a solution."

Since We The People are already over taxed at every level of government I'll be calling with a different message.

Balance the budget based upon the revenue you collect TODAY

Reduce the size of our worldwide empire, bring the troops home from the 900 bases and 137 embassies, then close about half of those.

End the following:
Dept of HHS
Department of HUD
Department of Energy
Department of Labor
Department of Commerce

Work toward a tax plan that eliminates the Federal Income Tax on all wage earners.

This would also end Corporate welfare as well saving trillions.

President Obama,
Clinton Prosperity Requires Clinton-Sized Government

There is a way for Congressional Republicans to reach an accord with Democrats that would enable the nation to avoid falling off “the fiscal cliff” into a searing recession.
Obama Democrats argue that the President only wants to restore the top rates that reigned during the Clinton presidency, which was a prosperous time. We should say: Absolutely, let’s do it. But in order to achieve a Clinton economy, you also must enact the other Clinton policies critical to the prosperity of those years:

They include:

I. A Freer Economy
The oppressive ObamaCare of that time was HillaryCare, which was never enacted. If we want to re-create the Clinton economy, then we have to repeal ObamaCare. Are Democrats willing to do that?
The federal-regulation regime was also much easier then than it is now. Will the White House become serious about genuine deregulation?
II. Clinton-era Federal Spending Levels
Federal spending as a proportion of the economy was smaller in those days. That would mean budget cuts now of around $500 billion – not spread over ten years, but right now. How likely is that?
III. A Strong and Stable Dollar
The dollar in those days was almost as good as gold – a critical factor in that time’s economic boom. Will the White House ax Ben Bernanke and his destructive monetary policies?
The Republicans should tell Mr. Obama that, if he’s truly serious about restoring Clinton-era prosperity, he has to combine Clinton tax rates with the former president’s wise management of the economy that encouraged free enterprise and a true recovery. If not, we will see a return to recession in 2013 and continue on our current path toward European-style malaise and stagnation.
