You have to remember that many new longhaul Transatlantic destinations have been added over the last several years and these flights are provisioned with several carts that are stocked full to make the crossing. Each foreign destination also has a surplus stock that can be used for breakage, theft (lots are stolen) etc. Take into account that several "styles" were never reordered to begin with, the problem lies in IF you don't keep up with attrition There is No backstock. Having glassware on ALL flights would take a major investment at this point and right now I'll bet this is not even a priority on domestic services. What happened to all of the glass ware that US had before it got rid of it. Wasn't it stored some where? I mean they had much more aircraft at one point to stock these flights with. Where did all the glasses go??
