When will the fighting machinists actually join the fight?

We need every available member to support this protest!

On October 23rd if we pack the picket lines we will send a message to American and to the National Mediation Board that we won't sit silently as the company tries to negotiate language that would decimate our contacts and destroy our careers!

If we don't have a very large showing we'll send a message that we're weak and willing to take whatever comes our way.

It's your future, it's worth fighting for!

In Unity,

Brian Parker
Strategic Action Coordinator

hey iam here's your chance to show up and help yourself. how about piling the leadership in that iam jet and come on down and walk the line. show a little unity, you do know how to do that?

Hold it. It might be tough to make that gig. Looks like we sold the jet back in February.

So unless it's first class on Emirates or Singapore or even Virgin Atlantic, we might not be able to show up.

Regarding IAM support for picketing in Dallas/Ft Worth Texas, no there will not be much participation that can be witnessed.

The simple fact regarding DFW is that there just aren’t many IAM Members who work there so how could anyone expect to see many IAM shirts displayed.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers need to have a picket in one of their respective hubs which is something they have yet still not done.

There is no hiding or dismissing that fact.

Very true. But having THEIR LEADERSHIP show up, for photo ops. Not photo shop would go a long way in helping themselves and their priorities while helping us. Nothing like making an attempt at unity. Nothing like a coat tail partner in the association!

This is from the current LUS IAM Fleet Contract. I’m sure if I look this piece of language would also exist in the Maintenance Contract.

The IAM does not engage in protests because they agreed Contractually (Legally) NOT to protest Company “premises”.

Read Article 2, Section C.

Now to be fair to the IAM. As much as we can knock the language they accepted into their Contracts, they can (And have) just as easily knock us for this bit of language in ours.

So an airport, Times square or Wrigley field are considered company property? Come on Weez. Thats pretty weak.

We will never see the IAM leadership engage in the same manner as the TWU.
They have a different approach in unionism 101. We will bang drums and pots and pans at the useless pickets. No one cares about our issues unless it directly affects them. Whether it be a passenger or a member of management involved in negotiations. They won't even meet until mediation starts. That says volumes about their approach to negotiations.

you are correct, until it affects them they wont stand up.
watch how involved they will be when or if a representation vote occurs.

Why should the iAM do anything now? With mediation in our future, this might very well go on another three years.
That's another three years of cheap medical!

i agree 100% remember BOTH the chair and the vice chair have equal veto power in bringing a vote back to the membership. we can only hope that as this drags on the membership will see a change is necessary.
