Although I, like many, am anxious to get the JCBA negotiations started; I realize it may not be wise to send this signal to the company. It could be interpreted, by the company, as a sign that hourly compensation is all that needs to be addressed. The fertile grounds to make any increase in wage, cost neutral, with concessions gained in other Articles of the contract. There are many aspects and Articles of this JCBA that need attention and improvement. This is our future. This is an opportunity to correct many past wrongs endured by Fleet (IAM / TWU) members. It is a huge undertaking if done right. If done right... it will require a measure of patience and solidarity from our NC and the members. We have recently witnessed the consequences of reaching a rushed agreement in this industry. Let's exercise some patience and solidarity going in. Let's get this right!
