514 No longer endorsing tentative agreement

I expect to be slammed here, but I like Steve. That's not an endorsement of the t/a mind you... I do agree however that the conventions are inbred family reunions. I should look into AMP as you suggest.

[ I have an entirely different view of the convention - it's more of a good ol' boy back-slapping party for all the so-called "union's" "dittoheads" (finally a good use for that word) and sycophants.

With any luck, that was the last convention for AA's mechanics.

By the way - have you signed your AMP card?

I have. Mailed it in, too.

Hey Goose, been reading your posts for quite some time now, and agree with you most of the time. Thanks for the AMP endorsement.

So, you like Steve do you?? Well, how did you like voting on the "deal" that allowed the kids to scan those grievences? Also, whose company was that? Did the members know about it before hand or after?I would like to hear your response on that issue.quote]

Absolutely not. That was a sham of a deal. I don't know all the details, but I believe the e-board ok'd it, not just Steve. I attended one of the many membership meetings where this was brought up. Never heard an answer I was satisfied with.

Liking Steve as a person is one thing, Liking Steve as the Local 514 Union Leader is another.

Letter to the Membership – 7-30-2010

I know everyone has been waiting for my position on the Tentative Agreement and that some of you have already voted. The timing of this vote and the election hasn’t been the best. I was sworn into office July 26, 2010. On July 28, I called a meeting of the Executive Board. As a part of that meeting, a member of the ATD Staff made a presentation on negotiations and how they reached the Tentative Agreement. After careful consideration, the Executive Board has determined that we cannot, in good faith, endorse this TA.
No matter whether you are in favor or against the TA, be sure to read it in its entirety. Make your decision and then be sure to cast your vote. Above all, we must respect each others opinion and we must remain united.
In solidarity,
Sam Cirri, President

The FSC says the mechancis shouldn't vote for a contract...............

not a personal attack on Sam, just a theory of a FSC running the largest mechanic local. Now those same TUL mechs are starting a new union for mechanics.

What to think? Me thinks we should vote YES, sense TUL is a mess and I don't want a FSC, or some mech who didn't want to be local president negotiating my contract.

I would also like to hear from a TUL mech what they thought of a DFW mech telling them how to vote.

I don't see a group having a rally outside with banners and signs as "telling me how to vote".

The United States of America is based on freedom of speech.

Nobody was telling YOU how to vote. Unless of course you happen to be a person who cannot think for themselves and walk around the planet with a ring in your nose wating for someone to pull your ring for direction.

I actually find some of your questions and statements cause me to pause and wonder about your intelligence, self esteem, and general mental health. Most of the time I just move on past your postings and assume you are just trolling and not really serious. But day after day postings of this type really raise my brow.

Hopefully the "NOs" will win.
But be prepared for a major "threat and scare tactic" campaign from the company should the TA get voted down.

Be prepared to vote NO for the worse TA the company will come back with.

I notice when you don't have an argument, you go for a personal attack. That's a politician trick to take the spot light off of the subject. I'm not surprised you couldn't beat out a FSC for local president, the TUL mechs must know you. Then again having a FSC as president is better then having a consistent whiner in charge. How does it feel to know that half the mechs in TUL would rather vote for nobody, then vote for you. You must be a real "winner."

A better quesion would be why did half of the mechanics in tulsa not vote? and Why are there no runoff provisions in the TWU constitution? do you think Sam would have won if there had been a runoff? there are so many questions My favorite one is why not sign a card and go AMP?

Not trolling just muzing!

Why are there no runoff provisions in the TWU constitution?

That was a proposal at the Convention, I think Local 100, not sure, it never made it to the floor. All the proposals the International wanted were accompanies by speeches, videos etc, all the ones they didnt want were lumped into one vote and not discussed, you had to make a motion to discuss but of course that motion was rejected.

There have been two Key changes since the Convention. John Samuelson at Local 100 (36000 members) and Tulsa (6000). If Sam can rally the AA sytem (30000)thats around 66000 members, half the TWU.

I know the informer is a bit dim witted, but if he will read the article, and there is even a picture for him to look at. In the picture there is a banner from a group of DFW mechs having a rally at TUL that says

"VOTE NO".

"It is better to have people think you a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

There you go again exposing a brain flaw.

I didn't run for President against the Fleet Service Clerk so of course I couldn't beat him if I didnt run against him. Half the mechanics huh? Sam got 685 votes not even 13% of the membership and he is the President. Think again about your postings and what they say about your understanding of our current situation. It is not personal when it is factual.

I did notice you went personal though while exposing yourself a fool. Congrats

There is no argument to have when someone claims a rally or protest on public property is telling YOU how to vote. Thus you are correct that I didnt have one.

Just so we are clear, I am from DFW and I was on the corner, Our group came to tulsa to stand next to our fellow brothers/sisters who felt like we do, and to let them know we will not sale them out for an extra 2.00 an hour line pay. I can tell you that the majority of cars coming and going where pro vote no it was not close from all the honks and waves thumbs up we got while there. also there were onlly 8 people from DFW the rest were Tulsa based probaly 60 to 80 coming and going over the three hours we were there, many others have called and said if they had known they would have been there.

Duke,

The reason why I and other DFW AMTs and Stock Clerk drove up to Tulsa on our own time was to show SOLIDARITY. Don Stewart spoke to two other AMTs, one from DFW and one from Tulsa, besides myself for about an hour on the phone. Had he written everything the three of us spoke about the article would have covered two days.

Yes, the banner said VOTE NO. But look at the same picture you are asking Informer to look at and you will see below the VOTE NO are the words SAVE OUR PROFESSION. This is because this t/a will be the end of our profession. There is so much bad language and added concessions that a NO vote is the only choice.

If this t/a is such a good deal where are all the VOTE YES/RUIN OUR PROFESSION banners at?

By the way, is there a reason DFW AMTs/Stock Clerk aren't allowed to speak out and encourage others interested in saving our profession to be in Tulsa? Every one of the Tulas employees that stood on the corner last Wednesday thanked us for our time and organizing the VOTE NO display of solidarity. They said they valued the opportunity to speak out and be heard and that had we not come up Local 514 would never have done it.
