Has there been any meetings about what contract these are going on, west or east? Training dept intel says west

So you're saying it's going to be West metal from PHL to China?

If you guys are still talking about "West metal" or "East metal" come 2009, you might as well pack up your bags and go home. You reach a point where you just need to move on with the fact you're one company now.

i AGREE 100%!

An eastern West base? Originate PHX, layover PHL and back.
Parker has stated that pilots should not be paid by equipment size, same pay for all airplanes. After the ALPA receivership and Nicolau award, there will be at least a majority of pilots who would agree to this because it will allow them the best pay in the future.

Come on -- I find it highly unlikely that the company would add 2 additional days to the PEK trip so that the PHX pilots could fly it. That sounds like some wishful thinking. Wouldn't that mean they would have to train nearly double the amount of pilots than they would if they just made it a PHL trip? Hopefully with some additional widebodies arriving in 2009, PHX can get FRA and maybe LGW, but I seriously doubt, from a cost and logistical perspective, the 340 would be "west metal."

Does anything prevent the company from opening a new West base somewhere?

If not, are there any restrictions on where new West bases can be (i.e., only west of the Mississippi or something)?

If not, can't they open a new "PHL-West" base and staff it with West crews?

Sorry Westies, the Ground School Instructors have already had a bid closed which included 10 positions for 340 instructors, effective Jan. So I would take a guess it's going to the East...
