ALPA Thread 1/18-1/25 ALL ALPA Discussed Here

I wasn't aware that the AA/TWA merger used realtive seniority. And when did ALPA furlough anyone? And isn't USAPA patterned after APA?

All anyone is looking for is an answer to a simple question so that they can have some insight into the mindset of USAPA. All we get are cryptic answers that beg more questions and undermine USAPAs credibility.

Your whole post above is cryptic, because it does not have a point.

Thank you for that informative, backed by facts and mature observation.

By the way, what does the stapler you use in your icon represent?

Aw, come on nosty, that was funny!!! Sorry if it was done at your expense.......but really, nothing personal.

The stapler avatar represents the absurd: the east being stapled to the west would be absurd, just as DOH would be absurd. The arbitration is over, but until you folks own up to it, the stapler stays.

It will remind you of the absurdity of the east position regarding seniority.

Meanwhile, don't let that yellow noose get too tight around your neck. Crew scheduling might accuse y'all of another sick-out.......

In response to my question regarding USAPAs plan should they not win the election.
So you don't come out unequivocably stating that USAPA will disband its organization, stop all attempts to overturn Nicolau, and begin to support joint negotiations? Here's your vote. Will you honor the outcome? Should we believe any answer coming from the east?

The problem is, the "award" is not legal. At a minimum, it was conceived from a flawed list, no matter the circumstances. Because ALPA Natl provided the attorney that "approved" that list (and there is reasonable question with that) ALPAs liability is front and center. Numerous other, more serious, problems, will guarantee a crippled airline.

You may wish to consider ensuring USAPA gets elected just to guarantee your job continues to exist, as it were.

In his speech to the Northwest pilots, Prater said he talked about "the pitfalls of allowing management to create a US Airways-America West scenario." Where was alpa then, what did alpa do about this at the time. A 500,000 a year paid victim.

"Steve Derebey, a United pilot and union spokesman, said Wednesday that if any entity tries to force a transaction on the pilots "you'd see a marked and hostile reaction." But Steve still thinks the Usairways pilots are not allowed to be hostile. Hypocrite.

The poster boy for USAPA

Prater promising the Northwest pilots two cars in every garage. We will not allow an ALPA carriers pilots to be screwed as the result of a merger, except US Airways pilots of course.

Independent association of continental pilots that prater turned into alpa.

"When the IACP officially merged with ALPA in May 2001, the three IACP officers—then IACP president and later Continental MEC chairman, Capt. Pat Burke; then IACP vice-president and later Continental MEC chairman, Capt. John Prater; and then IACP secretary-treasurer, First Officer Nick Tulloh—wrote to ALPA’s president, saying, in part: "Without the hard, unstinting work of the entire ALPA leadership, we could not again stand here as brothers, united in a common goal—the preservation of our profession. Without the long hours given freely by ALPA Pilot-to-Pilot volunteers, we could not stand here as brothers, committed to the safety of those who put their lives in our hands every time they step aboard our aircraft. Without the support provided by the MEC members of the many ALPA airlines, we could not stand here as brothers, true believers in the possibility of a global brotherhood of airline pilots."

"IACP vice-president and later Continental MEC chairman, Capt. John Prater"

"brothers" Like Cain and Abel

usa320 statement

USA320 was taken prisoner and brainwashed, he has changed his tune. I feel this is a direct result of the effects of the Stockholm syndrome.
And so the saga continues... nostradamus, EastUs, and the rest of the gang have now turned on one of their own. They would sing the praise of USA320pilot when he conformed to their view of the world.

Now he has returned with a different perspective and they attack him as well. Just as I've always said with this group... If you don't conform to their will they attack like rabid wolves. "My way, or the highway!" 🙄 How predictable.

Hey guys... Looks like your "majority" is falling apart. Even your MEC (minus the PHL rep of course) sees it.

The fact remains that the poster you are referring to was fired by his company for his views he posted on this web site. ALPA acted slowly in helping him regain his employment, Stockholm Syndrome fashion. The poster left here supporting USAPA the future Union and returned an alpa supporter only because they saved his job. There were no attacks just factually backed observations.

If you and I will be voting in the upcoming election and USAPA gets voted in by the majority of the majority of votes taken....ALPA as a party and both MEC's no longer have any legal claim to argue anything regarding a collective bargaining agreement between the company and USAPA. You and I will be arguing the merits of the negotiation of a new contract within the confines of a new collective bargaining agent. You have an option...ignore it or participate. You're choice. That's the way it is now and that's the way it will be then.

Factually incorrect on all counts. USAPA inherits and is the custodian to, both CBAs and the transition agreement, as well as any other agreement between the company and either pilot group.

In other words, you guys may get the USAPA. However, it won't get DOH. Or a contract without the west guys voting approving it--see the transition agreement thing about ratification of a joint contract. Whoops.

All you can do with Nicolau is live under LOA 93 forever, and hope another merger does not come along with a larger ALPA carrier (in which case the best case is Nicolau). The USAPA thing, promising DOH, is criminally stupid--considering the East pilots could live under LOA 93 forever without changing unions.

It comes down to the vote.

Not really.

What everyone here seems to forget is that TWO parties negotiate a contract under RLA and NO party can seek self help, strike or lockout, if and unless the contract has reached its amenable date OR both parties agree to amend it PRIOR to the amenable date and ALL resources to a successful conclusion to a new amenable contract has been exhausted. That was and still is the original purpose of RLA...to prevent labor/management strife in a critical component of our country....transportation.

Yeah, and because of that, you can't get DOH unless the west guys independently ratify a new contract with DOH in it. As mentioned above, it's criminally stupid.

Just to be clear,

Is it true you no longer support the USAPA?

PS. welcome back

767jetz I am glad you showed up here because I have a question. You are a United pilot who is directly involved with your pilots union. Your leader has threatened the following if you are involved in a merger;

"Steve Derebey, a United pilot and union spokesman, said Wednesday that if any entity tries to force a transaction on the pilots "you'd see a marked and hostile reaction." "We could ensure that a merger would fail," he added.

Now will this be like the Summer of Hell, where your pilots union was responsible for hundreds of cancellations?

The reason I am asking this 767 jetzs united pilot, because I feel a responsibility towards the flying public and another summer of hell would not be fair to them. I feel if your United pilots are going to slow down again, at least warn the passengers ahead of time.

As a passenger, I received no advance warning when you decided to start "doing your own job," per the East MEC.

You (Pot) may want to say hello to Kettle (767) next time he's around these parts.
