Any other news on the 757 additions to the fleet?
Please this thread is just for opinions and facts about the ATA 757's and European service etc.. Pleas do not veer off onto CRJ's, US express etc...there is plenty of space for these seperate threads.. Thanks B)

i thought there was something i read about ETOPS on 757s for either European runs or something like that? but I would think the 767 or the 330 would be better for LIS or ARN or MXP? can the 757 do a run like MXP or ARN or LIS from PHL?

the 757 can certanly do lis. i do not know about the others. continental uses the 757 between ewr and lis. and twa used the 757 between jfk and lis.

I guess if you want the routes to fail, you would use a 757; as it has limited cargo capacity and no ability to carry palletized cargo. Maybe we could sub-contract the cargo out ... that would drive up costs too and make the routes unprofitable and thus unsustainable. Then the regional minds at Tempe could claim that international routes are unprofitable and cut them all out. Nahhhhhhh!

here we go again with the sarcastic negativity. you guys amaze me .

Hey 757's make profit for the likes of CO, on close European routes so I dont think they will fly them just to prove it does not work!
757 service likely for SNN,GLA,LIS. 767 for DUB, MXP, ARN. Also i reckon the 757 will be an all ecy service for this year anyway

I have heard from a source on the East, that the East is looking at getting 3 former ATA 757, ETOPS aircraft to fly to Dublin.

we know that already. now all we need is an announcement

But wait, such an annoucement would be about a city other than PHX/Tempe. That'll never happen.
per afa eline today, it says to watch out for new european routes and new planes SOON!
This was emailed to me today and all members as well.....

You might hear about it, and even bid for it and finally work it, but news of it probably won't even make it onto Miss Mumbles US Daily!

The Company has also just announced the new VFLR with a deadline date of March 4, 2006 to apply. This one is an extension of the very first VFLR that was over subscribed to last year. They will be letting 100 go each in July and Sept. and 123 in November. You must be active as of the release date and had been active as of December 1, 2004. I believe the company may have to displace out of PIT and wants to get rid of as many as they can prior to the displacement to save money. Check out our website, www.afausairways.org or theHUB for information on the VFLR.

Look for new European destinations announced soon and new aircraft coming. Hang in there and take care of yourselves.
