now to find out the terms of the deal and if the union will recommend endorsement.

I think the union will claim victory since it's less than what Delta was originally asking. They can claim they fought management and 'won'.

Hum.....whatever you do, remember what happened at our camp when management failed on their numbers. Better to give too much the first time then to enter Ch 22. While AA may not be completely out of the woods, I applaud their HUGE scarifice that has saved that company. Give it now or they'll get it later. Been there, done that.

Wusses! When is a union that can actually have an effect on operations actually going to strike?

...only when they can't come to an agreement. How do you know they didn't get what they wanted?

Huh??

The idea is to come to a mutually acceptable agreement. That IS the beauty of a union, they get a choice.

The pilots may have received a good stock option to offset the paycuts, we should hear within a week or two. I hope the non-union folks aren't left picking up the difference (but I bet they will)

You can bet the non-union employees will not get any worse.... DL for years has kept more unions off the property by proving to the rest of the employees that they will get no worse treatment than their peers at other carriers or the DL pilots by not belonging to a union. Given that DL is trying hard to patch up the employee-mgmt gulf, I expect that any stock options/profit sharing will be given to the rest of the employees in equal proportion.

It's time for the pilots to accept the deal (and how does anyone except a few union officials and DL mgmt know what was decided) and for everyone to move on with rebuilding Delta. Bankruptcy isn't fun for anyone but the DL pilots will still come out better than their peers at UA and US and probably NW (not totally settled) and far better than the unsecured debtors and shareholders that will get nothing or some of the leaseholders that have given up 75%.

Yes, AA people and mgmt deserve commendation for keeping their ship out of the BK storm. But now that DL is here, they must do what they have to do to return to profitability and industry leadership.

They will INDEED come out better than the rest of the pilot groups. DL is a great airline, and the pilots were united and strong enough to know they deserved proper treatment during its reconstruction. I can only guess the monetary gains (or amount of givebacks) will not be that far off from what DL wanted. But by standing strong they can insure their quality of life issues will addressed. At U in particular, management took ANYTHING they could, because the pilots were not strong. They are now paying the price for that weakness, even as the airline teeters on the brink of "possible" success. Best to the DL pilots, they deserve kudos. Take care WT, Greeter.

agree that it is necessary to stand up but DL's noncontract employees have not been reduced to the wages and conditions at other carriers. I think DL recognizes that it's not worth reducing your employees to paupers and then expect them to provide the level of service that is necessary for DL to grow into some pretty competitive int'l markets while winning passengers back from some pretty well-run LFCs. I can certainly hope that UA and US' employees get the opportunity to recoup some of what has been lost - it clearly wasn't necessary to dig that deep to survive. But it's alot easier to add something back when times are good than to find out that the plan wasn't aggressive enough after the business is so badly damaged it can't be saved. DL has the luxury of being late into BK; UA and US were fighting historically high probabilities of chapter 11 cases becoming chapter 7s.

Bingo! Greeter.

Delta flight attendants make less internationally than United flight attendants. (that's 'worse treatment' in my book). Heard they just lost their sick leave pay too. Yes, they are definitely doing worse than their peers at other airlines.

Good job to the pilots  but that $$ is going to have to come from somewhere and I see a bunch of non-union employees standing around with butt lube. 😀

I would advise everyone to wait and see what the details of the 'deal' are before making too bold of comments.

If management agreed to the deal, then the pilots gave up something, somewhere, to get the number Delta wanted. Remember that DALPA bent over and took it on RJ scope and work rules to get the huge pay raise in 2001. A lot of pilots voted against that huge raise because of the changes in lifestyle they would have to accept in order to get the money.

As for the non-union employees - I know that the IT staff is already at the bottom of the industry. The leadership at the IT subsidiary got a very rude awakening when they did the RFP for outsourcing.

"DOG",

This "wait and see" is about $$$$ only !

If DL only got say $225M from Dalpa I FULLY expect WT
to "spin the livin' #### out of it, saying(perhaps) "that even though DL got $80M LESS, DALPA(hypothetically) gave up 500 mainline jobs"................(Or words to that effect)

I SIMPLY have been saying that DL WOULD NOT GET $305M in PAY CONCESSIONS.....PERIOD !!

Lets wait and see, how "THE PAY" shakes out !

IF I'm wrong, I'll POST a HUGE RETRACTION !!
