now to find out the terms of the deal and if the union will recommend endorsement.
I think the union will claim victory since it's less than what Delta was originally asking. They can claim they fought management and 'won'.
Wusses! When is a union that can actually have an effect on operations actually going to strike?
Huh??
I hope the non-union folks aren't left picking up the difference (but I bet they will)
You can bet the non-union employees will not get any worse.... DL for years has kept more unions off the property by proving to the rest of the employees that they will get no worse treatment than their peers at other carriers or the DL pilots by not belonging to a union. Given that DL is trying hard to patch up the employee-mgmt gulf, I expect that any stock options/profit sharing will be given to the rest of the employees in equal proportion.
It's time for the pilots to accept the deal (and how does anyone except a few union officials and DL mgmt know what was decided) and for everyone to move on with rebuilding Delta. Bankruptcy isn't fun for anyone but the DL pilots will still come out better than their peers at UA and US and probably NW (not totally settled) and far better than the unsecured debtors and shareholders that will get nothing or some of the leaseholders that have given up 75%.
Yes, AA people and mgmt deserve commendation for keeping their ship out of the BK storm. But now that DL is here, they must do what they have to do to return to profitability and industry leadership.

How can this be though? Unions Bad, Company Good!but that $$ is going to have to come from somewhere and I see a bunch of non-union employees standing around with butt lube.😀
I would advise everyone to wait and see what the details of the 'deal' are before making too bold of comments.
If management agreed to the deal, then the pilots gave up something, somewhere, to get the number Delta wanted. Remember that DALPA bent over and took it on RJ scope and work rules to get the huge pay raise in 2001. A lot of pilots voted against that huge raise because of the changes in lifestyle they would have to accept in order to get the money.
As for the non-union employees - I know that the IT staff is already at the bottom of the industry. The leadership at the IT subsidiary got a very rude awakening when they did the RFP for outsourcing.
