AP reports a pilot deal has been reached

My family and I have made a concerted effort to buy gasoline from anyone EXCEPT Mobil and Exxon. We received an email that said those are the 2 biggest oil companies in the states (duhhhh) and if millions of people just went to any other dealer, they'd be forced to drop their price. I wish I had faith in the public to do so, but I'm not so sure about that, but I'm going for it. I'm definitely going out of my way to use these other stations and if I plan ahead and make a point to fill up when I'm by them, who knows, it may work.

Hopeful!

Looks like the internet keeps some fantasies alive, as it seems like the message you received is a variation on this oldie-but-goodie:

It won't matter. But I suspect you knew that. At least I hope you already knew that. B)

If everyone in the USA tries to avoid ExxonMobil for even just a day, and simply buys their gas elsewhere, those other stations will quickly run out of product, and many would likely raise their prices when they see hordes of drivers descend on their station.

It's hard for consumers to manipulate multi-hundred billion dollar markets. Good luck with that.

Some days I think life would just be easier on the bread lines. But being in this industry, I have already experienced them and know that it isn't as "easy" as it seems. Yes...there are always backups...but I sure do like where I live and what I do so hopefully I don't have to resort to backups...even if they are better than the true breadlines.

What? Me facetious??
Bread lines? This company knows nothing close to the bread lines. And God forgive us if we bring ourselves to it. It is not necassary and I for one find no humour in it. Airline employees, in genaral have no idea what it takes to make 100,000 per year in the real world.

This pretty much sums it up 12.

Last night while I lay sleeping,
I died or so it seems.
Then I went to heaven
But it was only in my dreams.
But it seems St. Peter met me,
there at the pearly gate.
He said, "I must check your record,
so stand right here and wait.
I see where you drank alcohol,
and swore quite often too.
Fact is you've done many things
that a good person shouldn't do."
"We can't have people like you up here,
your life was full of sin."
Then he read the last of my record,
grasped my hand and said
"Come on in."
He took me to the big boss,
"Take him and please treat him well,
He's worked for an airline, sir.
He's had his share of hell."
Quit the drama Luv. You and your brothers have no idea of what hell is.

I agree completely with him. But considering that I easily spend at least $700 a month on gasoline (2 teenagers and a spouse = 4 cars) and considering that $700 is a SERIOUS understatement, I'm going to give it my BEST try to only fill up anywhere else. Truth.

Don't you hate cry babies???? Stop crying that you have no money and no chance to stop the unhappy pilots. Deal! *who voted against a union?*

You don't have a friking clue what "hell" I or anyone else on these boards has had to endure. The posting wasn't drama. It wasn't even union related. It was humorous.
If you didn't find it humorous or didn't appreciate it... tfb.

luv2fly,
do you really think the company asked for 90 seaters at DL Conx? I thought they wanted 79 seaters which basically seemed to be CR705s so they could offer a 2 class RJ product.

NHBB,
I have stated over and over that I think AA is a well run company and I respect their management for managing to do the tough stuff to keep AA between the guardrails instead of bouncing back and forth as most of the industry has done. I also remind some of my AA employee friends that it may have hurt back in 2003 but the company hasn't been back and it isn't likely they will have much of an excuse to do so anytime soon.

Humour is not part of my vocabulary right now. I don't care what kind of "hell" you or anyone else has gone through. I'm just saying that this crap isn't funny anymore..

The crj 705 is a crj 900 configured for a first class. It is a ninety seat jet.
In addition to allowing 30 of these aircraft on property, and up to 200 70 seat RJ's, the TA relieves the company of having to recall the remaining furloughed Delta pilots as previously agreed to. What a deal huh?

even though the CR705 is a 90 seat jet, scope clauses have kept airlines from using the full potential of aircraft before - although I suspect DL would trade some of the capacity for range.

What are the other provisionss of the deal? sick leave, rigs, etc?

While no one likes a concessionary deal, it sounds like it's not as bad as feared if you're not on the recall list.

It is time to move on and rebuild.
