This could be the next big thing in cost savings.

Doubt it. I don't work for LCC, but I'm guessing that flight crew contracts call for separate rooms for all crew members. Not something the company can just change because they want to...unless, of course, your union is willing to let them.

You mean to tell me after spending the whole day stuck in a metal tube with fellow crewmembers that they also expect us to share a room with them? I don't believe it for a second. If it ever did happen, I would quit immediately! Furthermore, how would they know how many rooms to reserve? I've worked with all male crews before. Or what if you are with an all female crew except for one male. How many to a room? I know Tempe does some crazy things but this isn't one of them. Even if they did bring it up, our union would never agree to this. This just seems very unlikely to me.

well its already happening and the IAM wont stop it. Fleet Service within the last 2 months has been sent to training in PHX for CLP coordinator. And each has had to share a room and guess what 1 bed in the room. the other is a pullout couch or a futon. Lucky ive been to phx enough i have people i can stay with. This has never happened before Fleet Service was told if your above the wing you get your own room if your below the wing you dont. This is blantant discrimination, puts every employee in jeopardy safety wise. In our contract it doesnt specifically state that each will get their own room, that only hotel be provided however i think a lawsuit by an individual to the company regarding safety and health issues could solve this pretty quick. All the IAM says is that the company reps do agree that its not right and needs to be fixed but for some reason it doesnt get fixed, umm i wonder whos BSing who, and I wonder why wont the IAM hold the companys sack and squeeze every once in a while.

Pff... Good luck getting the IAM to fix that Nevada... Good luck getting the IAM to do ANYTHING.

Better not go to any training PO'ed...your roomie may get drunk and "mistake" you for his girlfriend.

Actually this is corporate policy - all hourlied employees are supposed to share a room with same sex individuals while attending training / meetings / etc. The only exception are for supervisors and above.

Its been like this @ the Wholly owneds forever, and at most regionals.

Guys...if you don't like it...just flirt with the hottest chick in training and arrange for a "switcheroo" basically you're hooking your roomie up too 🙂

We just left the door between our rooms open. 😛h34r:

I take exception to the exception.

If you really and truly want to boost moral and do some team building then EVERYBODY shares a room or NOBODY shares a room it's that simple.

It would break down walls and build lines of communications.

I really have to disagree here, Piney. Hourly employees have minimal training that requires hotel stays and it is not that much of an inconvenience for them -- flight crews are in hotels most of the month and should not be subjected to the same set of rules.
