It will be interesting to see if IAM fleet service gets the same % raise and benefits and scope as mechanics/stock clerks

It shouldnt matter, two different CBAs, and two different Districts, two different negotiating committees and totally different work.

The most important word for the new contract: SCOPE!!!.

Without v e r y strong scope protection, little else really matters.

Here is a start: anything above 50 seats worked by CWA agents. Enough with the crazy EMB-170 = "mainline",
CRJ-700/900 = "Express" idea. How this was arrived at remains opaque. (But at least it's good for stations with 170s.)

Pure Express cities should see nothing larger than a CRJ-200.

Same company same union two different district 141 and 142
I guess this by design not by class and craft

No it is done by class and craft, that is why its two separate CBAs and two separate Negotiating Committees, and class and craft is determined by the NMB.

And we had M&R negotiating for fleet during their first CBA and they didnt like it so the district were separated because the mechanics didnt want to be with the ramp and vice versa.

And AMFA put these thoughts in their head.

I think we are the only unionized employee group in the CWA that doesn't have retirement healthcare benefits included in our contract to bridge us until medicare kicks in? Senior employees who retire can beg for a voucher from the IRS, through the PBGC. But no guarantees from year to year, it's under funded like the everything else in America.

Junior employees have nothing?

Is the CWA looking at this? Anyone know? <_<

They beat you down with silence. They just ignore you, knowing you'll get frustrated and give up. We are going to get screwed on this contract, has the CWA contacted any membership about what we would like to see in a new contract?

While de-certifying a union is risky indeed, the time has come to look at alternatives to CWA. While the agent is better of with CWA than with no union, the CWA could have done much better. Don't think IAM would be much better. Maybe it's time for TWU or SEIU to have a stab at it.

Thats so true. We had an election to change our bylaws over a year ago that was supposedly challenged (incorrectly) and they let it stand (who is friends with Velvet and why did she do the "investigation"?) We've been trying for over a year to get a response from someone at CWA for a written copy of the challenge. Its got to the point that even after a certified return receipt requested (so we know they got it) letter to the District EVP, they dont bother to reply. We havent given up, but they are a piece of work for sure!  :censored:

The EO positions were only to be in place until the current contract expires. They are to go away (unless of course CWA decides to "enhance" our current contract).
