So just how quiet and convenient will this current hotel be when they fill in the levy/waterway and level the ghetto behind it to raise a new hotel? Hmmmmmm? Think you'll get a restful sleep with all that going on? Doubtful. As for crime being anywhere it certainly is. THAT hotel is away from major traffic and is dark at night relatively speaking for vegas. The staff is very nice, the hotel is for the most part clean but that doesn't take away the fact that the area isn't safe. I know the areas of vegas like the back of my hand and there ARE other places that could possibly be in the same price range. I know Usairways is cheap but this as already mentioned has lawsuit written AAAAALL over it. The next time someone gets mugged outside or is harassed you can bet they will get a lawyer. Do you think the hotel adding lighting and police patrol will hold up in a court of law as a remedy to the problem? No way in hell. Just to avoid any BS the company should have moved and most importantly AFA should NEVER have let up on the issue. AFA is a joke to management of this company. Always has been and always will be.

I know that Northwest stays at Bally's and I thought I saw a United crew over at The Palms.

Although I'm not an FA, I have a lot of friends who are, and get invited on a few overnights, so I wouldn't mind crashing at the place across the street 🙂 🙂

back in late winter or spring the "Street People" were getting in hotel and eating breakfast and begging for money----had front desk ran them off twice-----if they can get in building just wait for a shower bud to show up in tub with you-----man what a stench---eeewwww

Sorry guys, but the ultimate responsibility ls on the shoulders of the company...not AFA. Come on, think about it. What was AFA going to do...refuse to stay there? You can only do so much with these bozos given their unwillingness to really listen and their lack of concern for our safety. The bottom line is that management is CHEAP! They do not value the f/a group or the pilot group or they WOULD have us on the strip!! Geez, LAS is the easiest place to book a cheap hotel and our idiot airline can't find a hotel suitable for their crews?

The only lawsuit will be on US Airways shoulders, not AFA. Stop blaming everything on AFA or worst yet, Mike.

There are bums and murders at almost every hotel in Vegas. That's not a differentiator.

Anyone can file a MAJOR LAWSUIT. Winning one is an entirely different ballgame.

As an aside--someone should tell the AFA that if you google "US Airways" "crew hotel" "las vegas," it's trivial to get the hotel name. And, the good boys at ALPA happily provide it in one of the later issues of US Airwaves.

yeah clue by four does have a serious point about any lawsuit.... don't forget the fact that didn't someone here post the hotel has hired security guards to patrol the grounds and improvedthe hotel lighting ? Those two facts alone will knock down any lawsuit..

This has been going on in LAS for years. The crews that are regulars there just blow stuff like this off. Maintaining situational awareness and looking out for the female members of the crew is what’s important.

I love Terribles! I’ll be at a trade show in LAS in a few months. All the other guys can whoop it up on the strip (and loose a bunch of money), I’ll probably stay there. Pretty good Players Club, but not as good when they first opened.

Unless they put us in a bigger resort like Hard Rock or the Palms where we wouldn't have to leave the our safety will always be an issue. I would love to stay at the Palms! That might be iviting trouble of a different kind.

Now you've hit the crux of the problem. The LAS layover needs to be a full-service hotel. When the only thing you can get at a layover hotel is the morning carb-fest for a few hours, there needs to be a safe way to get food at other locations. In the winter when the darkness sets in at 5 pm, there is no choice but to walk thru dangerous areas to get food. THAT needs to stop.

not necessarily true. there have been cases with flight attendants injured while on layovers and compensation due as a traveling employee. When the company's conduct is so egregioius, workers' compensation laws can sometimes be avoided although admittedly tough to do.

Sorry but the "murders and crime happen at all vegas hotels" crap is bunk. I personally feel your more prone to being attacked or mugged at a hotel OFF the beaten path than a hotel in the middle of everything. They could add all the spotlights and security they want at our current hotel. The fact that they HAVE to do that speaks volumes. Also as I mentioned before, how are we to get rest when all this construction begins around the hotel? The hotel needs to change. That area is bad. PERIOD. We have our vegas mommas and a few poppa's that are f/a regulars that blow this stuff off but it's serious. Though this kind of stuff can happen at other hotels in other cities the fact is it's happening HERE at our HOTEL in vegas! ! ! Being cautious is one thing but even trying to go out for food is a gamble. Not the kind of vegas odds I'm interested in. In a lawsuit you don't think they will dig up all the crap that has gone on at that hotel and after they added security and lighting something else happens they will be "off the hook"? I don't know about that. The company needs to revisit this and the union though claiming to be "powerless" needs to hammer away at the company about this. EVERY crew member that is willing should file a claim each and every time your there.
