Did everyone leave?

Hey man how you doin over there in PBI? You’ve been as quiet as a Church Mouse in a field looking for the building. I hope you haven’t been moonlighting as a Bridge operator and were responsible for this tragedy?

I weaasles.
Im content with the current leadership within the iam so that makes me quiet. Imo our iam 141 is finally unified and doing its best for the members thru the leadership of richie johnsen.
He has really done a great job cleaning up all the sitoites. And also having the wisdom to keep the sito boys who bent the knee. Whatever the case, there wasnt even a dl141 election this year because the unity was strong enough to allow unopposed nominations.
Hope you are doing good ole friend/foe. Heard you are in fll. Got some super great guys from mia in pbi now.

Hey Tim here’s a copy of that “DENIED” appeal that AMFA filed. Oops 😬

The Associations response.

And finally AMFA’s (Boo Hoo) response to that denial dated October 1, 2021

Thanks. I figured.
I think they missed their best chance last time. Unless the twu iam has botched some grievances, I just dont think they will have much success in a card drive. I mean the contract is pretty good on the iam side and cant be bad on the twu side, considering nobody else on the property are getting pay raises or in serious negotiations.

I’m steering clear of your IAM Politics. But hey man if you’re happy with what you got now that’s all that should matter.

Yep I’m in FLl. Had to get away from the bureaucratic nightmare that MIA is. It’s much more peaceful and overall friendly working in a small station and Nestler is a good egg. The Station is in good hands with the man. We got about a dozen TWU guys there now and there was a little bit of sniping going on when I first got there but I think they’re all starting to find their balance now. And I LOVE being 13 miles from the Parking lot instead of 37 miles.

Yea not sure who you got up there but I know Jimmy Capella went in there recently. Jimmy is great people and please tell him I said hi.

I miss our back and forths sometimes but nothing wrong with a little “Serenity Now” in my golden years.

Thanks. I figured.

Their best chance was long ago back in 2003 when it was just LAA and we were whacked in the knee with concessions. The Contracts are great and as you can see the Association represents almost 16,000 M&R. I don’t even think all the kids they’ve hired in have any clue who the hell the AMFA are?

I think some of those old card catchers are starting to die off now anyway? That guy Stewart alone is older than Moses.

Stop...AMFA had plenty of opportunities to get that work back...Just stop with the argument that it is somebody else' fault. Its AMFA's fault. Period.
Whatever JB, it's the truth period.
BTW AMFA did bring in more engine work late 2021 and even added headcount to the day shift engine shop (doubled the headcount) on the annual bid for 2022, AND once they get the official approval from HQ they will be adding a 3rd shift (never had it before with any other union representation) starting with 8 headcount mechanics and a couple leads.
The new graveyard shift will be handling all the "NEW" work brought into the engine shop for live overnight maint and repairs. We are also being told that even more headcount with different days off will also be coming into the Engine Shop once they get the full picture of an accurate count of how many total is needed to keep all the new work running smooth and on time back to the gates. As many as up to 14 new positions will be added in total once all said and done, then they will relook at any further adjustments on an as needed basis.
GE has had that long term contract with Southwest since day one with GE. It is part of the contract that Southwest has with them for going with their engines on our wings. Cannot change the GE and Southwest contract as no one can except for GE and Southwest. AMFA has no control over those contracts at all as the teamsters gave all that to them over 30 years ago and the co nor GE will ever allow that to go away, period. GE and Southwest took full advantage of the move and made the contracts untouchable by any representing union of the airline mechanics or employees.
You really should do some deep homework prior to posting as all you have posted about our engine shop is not even within AMFA's control. However adding the headcount, adding positions, adding shifts and adding maint and repair work is and was done yet again for the new year 2022 as noted on our annual bids and will grow further in mid to late 2022 even more.
Thanks for the opportunity to share the growth news with you within our Engine Shops.

Never had a 3rd shift before...very telling. Hilarious actually. Don't forget there are more AA mechanics in Tulsa on their day off than 2 combined shifts anywhere at SWA. And you have almost as many planes as we do. AMFA is an abysmal joke when it comes to stopping work from leaving that should be yours....

In 2016 GE was able to expand on their agreement with SWA and add even more planes to the outsourced work that AMFA could not capture. But don’t throw too much shade at Swampy, he did say they were able to secure a whole 14 “In Total” new jobs to their roster. Yes he did write 14.

Of course AA has way more employees, because they always over hire just to lay people off when the need arises. It's always been a roller coaster ride at AA from the very start. They hire and layoff so often I literally passed on their job offer in Tulsa due to their history over the years of hiring and laying off or even getting rid of so many positions and the union allowing them to do it with no fight for their members what so ever. The 2nd reason was the impossible wage offer they start their mechanics at it was more than 8 bucks an hour less than the other airlines that were offering at the time, pathetic.
You know damn good and well AMFA has brought in the most work here at SWA than any other union in the past especially the teamsters. AMFA has doubled heavy maint in Dallas, HOU as well as Denver, and many other cities. AMFA has tripled if not quadrupled mechanics headcount since the teamsters were fired. You know and have heard all the work AMFA has added in the past and even this year so stop with the false information.

That 14 is the first time they increased the engine shop employees at one time. NEVER has the teamsters been able to do so. AND AMFA?SWA will be adding more in 2022, the amount totals are not known at this time. Both you guys have no clue how big of a move that was as SWA always runs lean and mean with the absolute minimum amount of employees as possible so they can pay the industry leading pay scales. YES I said IL, even when compared to the AA'ers contract pay scale. We'll be glad to only have 1/2 the amount of aircraft and or employees , much less dead weight to carry.

Oh yea you got jobs up the wazoo over there. Lol

I just looked at the new systemwide seniority list that the company put out and this is the majority of the M&R group that the TWU/IAM Association represents. (Employed people)

9329 Aviation Maintenance Group
1080 AMT Crew Chiefs
1809 Facilities/GSE Mechanics
217 Facilities/GSE Crew Chiefs
471 Inspectors
174 Maintenance Control Techs
1782 Material Logistics Specialists
235 MLS Crew Chiefs
405 Planners
And a few smaller groups that I left out of the count.

That grouping alone is 15,502 M&R and growing.

At least at AA these skilled professionals can find work. Trying to get a job under AMFA representation is like trying to find a Wonka Bar Golden Ticket in a store that only sells underwear”

Put the two pay scales side by side here. Let’s see pictures. No long winded diatribe out of you again. (All you ever got) Pictures only side by side or be silent.

Here’s the TWU/IAM Association Contract that they don’t feel the need to hide behind a firewall like the AMFA Contracts.

Let’s once again for old times sake go and look at the Data from our old friend the MIT Airline Data project. 2020

AMFA SWA Maintenance in house per aircraft was only 3.2 workers.
Passenger Cargo and Aircraft Handling was 27.0 (Lots of represented people here Agents and Ramp)

Association AA Maintenance in house per aircraft was 21.7 workers.
Passenger Cargo and Aircraft Handling was 28.8 (Lots of represented people here Agents and Ramp)

Average salary for all Maintenance workers SWA (The few) was $131,727 (2020)
Average salary for all Maintenance workers AA (The many) was $101,384.

AA has many many more represented mechanics overall than SWA with AMT’s making the top in pay and benefits which absolutely will skew the numbers lower being that Facilities and GSE make less.

Now it really doesn’t take a Rocket Science Degree or an A&P License to figure all this out. At least I never thought it did.

SWAMT believes AA is bloated and has too many mechanics. You can't make this stuff up.

I think he supports non represented MRO’s over arguing against his Airline for more work being brought in house. I just can’t see it any other way. IGM mentality I guess.
