DISPLACEMENTS FROM PITTSBURGH

Oh, so if someone isn't a fan of PIT or genuinely dislikes them, they are bitter?

One word for your response....STUPID!!
Hey now, I said the 'burghers will be drinking brewskis (only the finest, ICEY LIGHT  ) NOT P*ss and Vinegar. Everybody has a little LOVE for the Steelers (and if you don't you probably envy them). Not a fan of the CITY but I do like the BLACK & GOLD! (And didn't I tell you the displacement issue would get lost in the B*tchfest  )

How much should Allegheny County have charged Usairways when it was built? Usairways was the ones back in the day who threatened to leave if they didn't get a new terminal. Who else should have to pay for this airport the airlines troubles? As for the support Usairways got from Pittsburgh, well much does anyone support a store for instance in the neighborhood that price gouges then threatens to leave stomping their feet and pouting? Honestly....

The sword cuts both ways and unfortunately the people and the employees of PIT lose in the end. City and County big wigs begged for years to get SWA and other LCC's to fly to PIT, they finally did, but not to the extent the city desired. So now, they are trying to swoon back the hand that fed them and add the service back. US dumped a huge obligation and has refocused their strategy away from PIT, very sad what incompetent leaders on both sides of the playing field can do.

As the first to tell you that LUV was going to PIT (in the finest 320pilot fashion), I will further predict 40-60 LUV flights/day by 2008. It'll probably be more mainline metal than LCC flies at that point.

In the end (see RDU and BNA), that's a much better situation for the region than a monopoly hub where the hubber is demanding a billion bucks off a facility that it extorted in the first place.

Piney Bob,

All those names lead up to an all star recipe for disaster!

Yes I agree but there is ONE person on that list who killed the deal for PIT to remain a hub. this is based on my source who would have been in the position to know.

Was he lying? Who knows he worked at 2345 Crystal Drive so anything is possible.

Based on your previous post, my bet is Bronner, although I can also see one of the Crystal City Liars (tm) blaming it on Roddey.

I wonder if any of the senior mama's and papa's will take that VFLR? Alot of them have between 30 and 40 years of service. Why would they want to commute to PHL or LGA..or anywhere for that matter when they have that many years and can retire?

Don't fool yourself thinking some of those senior dogs will take the buyout....10grand is piddles (ends up about 6300 after taxes). Many have filled out applicable retirement papers and have retracted time in and again. As one senior person told me "I'll be HERE to turn off the lights in this joint". Being the smarta** that I am 😛 my response to him was "Don't forget to flush the toilet!"

Well DJ get your facts straight. Mr. C didnt want a new terminal in pit. Tom Forrester the county com. at the time did........so now usair leaves good riddens let em have southwest let southwest employees pay the taxes support the communities....pittsburgh is on its way down.....Time to Abandon the ship and move on

Your trying to tell me that back in the day when USAir was operating from the old terminal at Greater Pittsburgh International Airport that they did not threaten to pull their hub if the county didnt help them build their "dream" hub terminal there? That is exactly what the then USAir did. Piney is right about the deal almost being done. Roddey was also overheard mouthing off about it as well in a few establishments in Downtown Pittsburgh. People know people in the town of Pittsburgh and the story gets around. It was no secret that he was half the blame. Anyway with all the O&D up at PIT while US traffic is down I don't recall hearing from anyone that they can't make it here or there and had to take the train or bus. The Pittsburgh deal though tough on the city, the city will do just fine. It has been very hard on the US employees there as I was one of them we move on. No more chokehold fares keeping people from flying and slamming the ones who do fly.

IM TELLING YOU THAT NO THEY DID NOT THREATEN TO PULL THE HUB.

IT WAS TOM FORESTERS' PET PROJECT.

YOU ARE W-R-O-N-G

Move on.......Just saw ya commuting to phl......really moved on from that overpriced apt on mt washington......gee whats moms friend at United telling yunz now the PIT hub is back????? lol

I don't think it was me commuting to PHL from PIT due to the fact that I don't live there. As for the project being Tom's pet project you are right but it was built to USAir's specifications. It had to be how they wanted it and then in the end expected everyone else to pay for it. Well it is what it is. Hopefully things will change with between the county and the new management.
