TWU Informer , I noticed you didn't touch the mainpoint of my post.
AMFA didn't do diddly for Northwest mechanics, every single one of them were replaced.
I'm sure that is a much better outcome than what we are faced wit.
Nahh!....didn't do a thing. Absolutely nothing.
AMFA only raised the bar for mechanics in this industry by quantum leaps that's all. ALL mechs, GSE & cleaners got significant raises under the industry LEADING contract that AMFA negotiated for the Northwest M&R.
Had Steenland not been hellbent on stopping AMFA dead in there tracks with an abundance of unemployed mechanics that he lying in wait to cross AMFAs line & of course the IAM assisting in any way it could, NWA would've been forced to reckon with AMFA & the NWA mechanics.
But take heart.... you needn't worry...the TWU will NEVER strike AA. EVER. So you won't have to be put in that precarious position that the brave and honorable Northwest M&R found themselves in.
Oh, and one other thing...those guys careers aren't done. Merely a set back. Some are at Boeing up in SEA, some are at CO/UA, some are at FedEx, UPS or went to another field.... most landed on there feet eventually. And not one of them I've spoken with had ANY regrets about striking Steenland & NWA. But again....don't worry yourself. The TWU won't ever put you through such inconvenience. AA will probably employ more mechs.....you'll just be making about $25/hr......(with BS "benefits").
