What's new

DON'T GET REAMED.......

One case I remember, Eastern Airlines, the mechanics went on strike like some here are advocating, they were replaced for a short time, it got ugly and they finally liquidated.
There aren't any warm fuzzy feel good endings in BK stories.

TWU Informer , I noticed you didn't touch the mainpoint of my post.
AMFA didn't do diddly for Northwest mechanics, every single one of them were replaced.
I'm sure that is a much better outcome than what we are faced wit.

As I have pointed out in the past about the AMFA NW fiasco. AMFA admitted they screwed up not striking the moment the company started training the scabs. They admitted it, learned a great deal from it. On a second note. If you guys were to go on strike at AA, you don't think the company wound'nt bring in replacements just like NW did. I would be willing to bet they already have a company set up if they have to throw the switch.
BTW that is the only flaw anyone can throw at AMFA. Most all the other unions has pages and pages of faults. I was actually hoping you guys would have gone either AMP or AMFA, either way the members run the union not some political international level power trip goons that are only in their positions for the money.

I wouldn't say that's entirely true. CO after two BKs and almost twenty years finally became a great airline. So we just have to wait twenty years and we might be okay after BK...maybe.

AMFA couldnt strike when NW started training replacement workers.

NW was said to have this in the works for a year before the strike.

You can only strike when the NMB releases you and the 30 day cooling off period ends.

There won't be a strike at AA and even if there were one the company would have ample time to line up their ducks causing minimal disruption to the operation. BA was largely unscathed during the summer 2010 strikes, BA pilots served as cabin crew and even many UNITE members crossed the picket lines. Inevitably, some members at AA will do the same. Verizon was chugging along just fine this summer during the IBEW strike, companies develop contingency plans and have replacement workers lined up far in advance.

The difference is there is a labor friendly president in the White House.

The only reason why Continental exist today is because Frank Lorenzo created a parent company known as Texas Air to oversee both CO and EA. Then Frank removed all EA assets and transferred them to CO a company that he had retooled to his liking. So if you think AA2 is out of the woods Yes or No vote... You're dreaming ...

The Cactus is still on the hunt.. They WILL get AA and more jobs will be gone..and still even after all that you won't be able to stop looking over your shoulder.

Funny becuase Bob and others keep saying that Obama. the White House, even AFL-CIO aren't labor friendly and advocates having a labor party in the United States. Same president was in office during the Spirit strike summer 2010, same president during the Verizon strike last summer so what's your point?

Josh

If this thing passes we will (again) be the laughing stock of the entire industry. Time to have some pride in yourselves and you craft people....

how about hell no!

Chuck I confronted an elected union board member about all the bull$$$t they said about AMFA at Northwest and at United when they where going through this process ,about all the farm out of work ect ect ect, I told him we need a job action or FAMILY day before we go to court. Man that's the only thing that's going to change the course if the mechanics do a job action, just tell them JIM LITTLE told us and let them throw his sorry little a$$ in the slammer whith bubba. The TWU has learned nothing from all the previous BK's what a sorry group.

That is the point. There is no reason to pay for representation that yields nothing.

Yeah Buck but we have all been doing just that for way too long. I wonder how much better we would be represented if we actually had a choice of whether or not to be in this union, or no union at all. How much worse could it be?

With no union, it would've been an entirely different place to work, possibly even comparative wages and benefits.

Then a Mechanic's union would have sorted out certain issues long ago.

Transport Workers Union. Local 100 (New York City Subway) vs TWU/ATD
James Little (President of " Both " )

WHY ???

Why is it that if Local 100 can NOT reach an agreement with the city then they
GO - ON - STRIKE !

BUT when the TWU/ATD can NOT reach an agreement with AA, They DO NOT go on strike, but rather.. " BEND OVER,.....and Take IT in the Shorts " !!!

Everyone, ANYONE..........please explain to me, why this happens (this way) ????

Again, same union, .....Same President !!
