Just cant figure out why all the sudden the IBT likes the IAM scope part and wants to put it in the new contract.
Seems like some one finally woke up,yep we have all been screwed, dry lubed and abused. But I think if we can all just let our EGO's take a break a good winning group could be formed.

Allstrike,

I don't read that the IBT is praising the IAM scope, just that they intend on protecting it should they win representation. If you look at the difference between how the two unions put information out you will notice that the IBT's Scope letter from above is factual straight forward talk and the IAM's update letter from today is defensive and accusational. Now I admit I am partial to these issues, but even if I were on the outside looking in it seems one Union is reactive and one is straight forward and positive.

Again, I urge everyone to get involved, educate yourself, use your right to force an election, and then vote accordingly. Who knows, with the pressure to win an election should there be a vote, maybe both unions will step up to the plate and something positive will come from such uncertainty, but we need to make them work for our membership and dues. 😉

The way I understand it, if the NMB confirms a single transportation system the IAM will be our reps under our current agreement due to the shear numbers of membership vs IBT. The only negotiating will be for issues covering the transition. Both unions are putting their own spin on the information. The IBT has everything to gain and nothing to lose by trying to force a runoff. But the current scope of the IAM contract as of now wins hands down.

I must agree allstrike that "if we can all just let our EGO's take a break a good winning group could be formed"
