Just asking...but did that 757 go back to the owner, and then was sold/leased to FedEx? I know U East is losing 3 total 757 airframes in the 1Q of 07....leases that were not renewed...was this one of those 75s? Greeter.

On a different note, is LCC still getting A330-200's, and if so how many, and where might they be flown? Thanks.

Yes, LCC will still be getting them in 2009. They will probably be flown on a route such as PHL-ATH, PHX-LGW and maybe PHX to Asia.

A/C 610US was the first B757-200 US bought brand new from Boeing, it was titled "Ideas that Fly" and was purchased from the cost saving ideas from the employees.

The A330-200s will be replacements for the B767-200ERs, not new destination service from PHX.

I thought the A350s were for 767 replacement (despite the moving target delivery date). If the 332's start coming on line in 2009, why did LCC make the $20M investment in refurbishing the 767s throughout this year and early next year? My guess is the 332's will go onto long routes that need them and the 762s will stick around as long as they can keep them running without spending a fortune on mx, or perhaps until their next heavy check?

I recall from earlier in 2006 from Derik Kerr and Scott Kirby that the B767 fleet was going to be around until 2013, since there are no new widebody deliveries until than. I don't think we would be making an investment in the B767 interior upgrades if they were going to be replaced by the A330-200's in 2009. The A330-200's are for expansion.

If I remember correctly, years ago HP used to operate 747's PHX/HNL/NRT. From what I understand, the load to HNL were heavy, but mostly empty from HNL to NRT. Anyone on the west side remember that or shed any light on it? Was it dropped after HP bankruptcy? Would be nice to have somethng bigger than the 330's on Intl routes.

I think the route was to Nagoya, not Tokyo. I actually flew on the 747 a number of times between JFK and PHX at the time-it was a nice ride from a passenger perspective, but totally out of character and scale with anything they had at the time.

If they had it today, it would be configured 8F, 460 Y. 😉

Correct. The 332s will more than likely be used for ATH (if it proves to be a successful route), since it is beyond the purchased MTOW range of a fully loaded US 767-200ER. Additionally far western European and eastern Asian cities, such as Moscow, Tel-Aviv and Warsaw are potentally on the agenda. Some glamor destinations, such as Rome and Zurich could also be upgraded for competetive reasons. One other consideraton for marginal+ long haul routes has to be that the 332 will have a passenger capacity of 40-60 more than the 762, based on configuration. It should also be noted that that 10 of the 350 orders, which have yet to be converted to 350-XWB Orders because of unavailable Airbus performance data, can be converted to 332s (for a total of 20) if Parker decides to do so. Also, my hunch is that Parker is/has been offered some type of incentive by Airbus - possible 332 early deliveries and/or reduced prices for signing on to the 2014 350-XWB. PHX to Asia with the 332 is surely doable range wise, but ? profit wise. The flight would likely have to be heavily East Coast/Mid-West connection supported since the competition would be intense with the greater flexilibity/better services offered via west coast gateways (LAX, SFO and SEA). PHL-KIX is the only major Far East destination within the 332 range - and that is near it's limit. PHL-HNL might be attempted seasonally, but North East/Mid-Atlantic - HNL non-stops haven't done well in the past with any carrier. Also, some/all of the PHX-HNL 757 runs will likely be replaced with one or more available 767.

CO runs EWR-HNL. My cousins in-laws flew that route twice both ways and they said the planes were full. Do you think a PHL-HNL flight, would it have the yield to make the route profitable?

Why did they start Brussels back up? I would have done Berlin/ Copenhagen before that. Or is it that they have fly in the range of a 757? I may of answered my own question.

In the January 25 crew news session in CLT Scott Kirby indicated that the company is considering such routes as PHX-LGW, PHX-FRA, PHL-tel aviv, and possibly a route to Asia. The routes would be flown by widebody long range aircraft. The company is in negotiations with both Boeing and Airbus for an order. Scott said he suspected an announcement related to that order to come in several months.
