On a different note, is LCC still getting A330-200's, and if so how many, and where might they be flown? Thanks.
Yes, LCC will still be getting them in 2009. They will probably be flown on a route such as PHL-ATH, PHX-LGW and maybe PHX to Asia.
One correction.... PHL- ASIA........ 😉Yes, LCC will still be getting them in 2009. They will probably be flown on a route such as PHL-ATH, PHX-LGW and maybe PHX to Asia.
I thought the A350s were for 767 replacement (despite the moving target delivery date). If the 332's start coming on line in 2009, why did LCC make the $20M investment in refurbishing the 767s throughout this year and early next year? My guess is the 332's will go onto long routes that need them and the 762s will stick around as long as they can keep them running without spending a fortune on mx, or perhaps until their next heavy check?A/C 610US was the first B757-200 US bought brand new from Boeing, it was titled "Ideas that Fly" and was purchased from the cost saving ideas from the employees.
The A330-200s will be replacements for the B767-200ERs, not new destination service from PHX.

CO runs EWR-HNL. My cousins in-laws flew that route twice both ways and they said the planes were full. Do you think a PHL-HNL flight, would it have the yield to make the route profitable?PHL-HNL might be attempted seasonally, but North East/Mid-Atlantic - HNL non-stops haven't done well in the past with any carrier. Also, some/all of the PHX-HNL 757 runs will likely be replaced with one or more available 767.
