thanks Tim I say that link that is awesome website
Thanks for the kind words. link it under your handle so others can click it.

I'm still waiting for giantsfan to answer my questions. His opinion is unsubstantiated and 100% prejudiced against fleet service.

Randy Canale's letter arrived at my house today. He justified this "Wal Mart" contract by saying oil was high, Aloha went bankrupt, and the stock is low. What a clown! He has like 40 days left so I'll take comfort in that.

Randy doesn't want us to pay attention to this environment that is being fueled by up to $25 billion in merger activity. The same environment that has produced wage increases at both United and Continental just this week. The same environment that has produced 200% bonus plans for Company bosses next year. The same environment that has produced a 30% compensation package for the mechanics. Randy himself is prejudice against US AIRWAYS fleet service as he continuously fails to publically recognize the single greatest environmental variable that is known as M & A. If I use a fishing metaphor, it would be the equivalent of 'catching your limit'. Unfortunately, Randy chose to start the motor up and go home with less than half his limit. Hemenway came back even though Randy lied to us in August and said he wouldn't. You can force Hemenway to come back again by voting No. Hemenway will be back....because he has to be back.
Afterall, if anyone doesn't know that merger activity is fueling these negotiations, they must be living under a rock.

You know what ? I am sick and tired of United being treated as the breadwinner for the IAM. For christ sake, the IAM has no respect for you, your

previous members(ie furloughed) and your MONEY you've spent in dues for " How many years "? Is it so obvious, or am I just stupid and the younger guys/gals who have never been thru this just fortune

District 141 will work with the entire IAM Transportation Department to preserve the contracts, pensions and union representation rights that you have fought so hard to achieve.

Randy, thats great that you send this to UA but what about US......oh I forgot, we're easy and Gullible. Well some of us aren't. Note how RC refers to "you" in line 1 as if they are the only ones in the fight.................Total BS

Stop using the 'oil is high' rhetoric against a fair fleet service contract if you can't explain why the high oil prices didn't prevent the above questions I posed towards you. Until you answer the question, your opinion is 'prejudice' against fleet service and in error.

Tim, ...the reason I use the "oil is high" rhetoric is because in the past 30 years when oil goes up my paycheck has always gone down. Why are other rampers at UA an Co getting raises...they must of had better representation. Ours sucks. Why are M&R getting 30%...cuz they gave back 23%. (Yea...a lot was labor but a lot of our 10% giveback was labor too).

Also Tim, with all due respect, b/c I know you're out there fighting the good fight but until you start throwing as many bags in a bin all day like I do plz refrain from calling my opinion "prejudice" against fleet service. I AM FLEET SERVICE.

Don't you know that Randy is a United Airline Board of Director? He doesn't give a rat's arse about you. He signed this "Wal Mart" contract and it will be his last act of treason against fleet service. He will be voted out in around 40 days after we reject this garbage contract that isn't worth the paper its printed on.

The information about this contract starts here: Highlight Sheet of New Tentative Agreement

Has anyone heard how the so called informational meetings in BWI and LAX went today?

chill,
"Yeah, but customer service in PHX complained and petitioned and they got some rules changed. Now trade for trade doesn't count.

Fleet service in PHX will start burning bags if they cant trade!"

we had a me to clause on that . we are currently in the east enjoying that same benefit of trade for trade doesn't count . GOES bye bye with a YES vote.

and the sad thing is that privelage doesn't cost the company a penny but yet they don't want you to have it.

The only thing I can think of is all of the SENIOR guys picking up the JUNIOR guys hours this blowing any budget they may have set for wages. It could go the other way though, all the junior guys pick up for the senior, then they get cost savings!

I think it averages out, so, again, why would they take it away, but why risk it?

Maybe they want career oriented people.

Northwest and Delta Announce Merger Plans

To All IAM Members Employed at United Airlines:

Printable Version

To the surprise of no one, Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines today announced plans to merge. It is possible that some combination of United, Continental, and/or American Airlines may be prompted by today’s announcement. These airline mergers represent a threat to your wages, benefits and union representation itself.

United’s IAM-represented Ramp, Stores, Public Contact, Fleet Technical Instructor, Maintenance Instructors, Security Guards and Dining Service employees are the airline’s only employees to survive bankruptcy with better than industry-average wages and secure defined benefit pension plans. While other unions made promises to their members, only the Machinists Union produced positive results.

A merger could possibly lead to a loss of union representation entirely. This occurred when American Airlines bought Trans World Airlines (TWA). TWA’s IAM-represented Customer Service and Reservation employees were combined with their non-union counterparts at American, losing all union protection. Additionally, TWA’s IAM and ALPA membership lost hard-earned seniority when they merged under the seniority integration policies of American’s various unions.

There is a lot at risk, but the IAM is prepared. We will oppose any merger that negatively impacts our members, passengers or the cities these airlines serve.

District 141 will work with the entire IAM Transportation Department to preserve the contracts, pensions and union representation rights that you have fought so hard to achieve.

it goes to show that rand canale doesnt care for anyone but himself and giantfan oil certainly is high but look again at ual contract higher wages for their fleet us fleet down and out

You know what, freedom? I attended protest rallies in Tempe. I screamed bloody murder at our get-togethers. We whisted while we walked down Mill Ave and really annoyed passers-by. I was out there for the 30-foot rat a few months ago. What did it get me? Thrown under the bus at the end of 2011. We were screaming for unity and solidarity but I had no idea that it only meant PHX and nowhere else. If I would have known that, I would never have bothered. If what my buddy in PHX told me is correct (we will consider it hearsay) RR was the one who was guns-a-blazin' for the outsourcing provision.

Fleet service at field station pay dues like everyone else and deserve fair representation. If what I am hearing is true (that field station rampers were tossed to the curb because they didn't perform work actions or attend rallies) then perhaps DFR was denied.

Brother if anyone deserves a response it’s you , yes you have fought the good fight , and personally you deserve better .

When we were at those protests I for one had no inkling that our field stations would still be thrown under the bus . What can I say ? This is the pound of flesh that us airways aka AMERICA WEST MANAGEMENT requires of us . Brother , when people here in ARIZONA a low cost of living state are screaming that they can’t get by on these wages for much longer , what do you expect is going to happen ?

As to the unionized state of our field stations , my sources tell me that they HAVEN’T been pulling their weight , PERHAPS if they had fought harder , been MORE vocal , we wouldn’t have to face this .. PERHAPS if the EAST had pulled THEIR weight and fought harder , been louder we wouldn’t be here .

But we are , and now we must make the best of it that we can . There’s a thought running through my head right now , and it goes like this “those who don’t fight die “ . How many besides yourself came down from all of our NUMEROUS field stations eh ? HOW MANY EAST COAST GUYS DID WE HAVE THERE ???

That’s right PHX has been fighting this fight by herself , and we’re done fighting now …

What can I say brother ? That I want to live on this #### wage that the company pays us for another 3 or 5 years ? Because I CAN’T , honest to goodness I can’t make it anymore on this .

I’m sorry .

Number one, they are not lazy, it's the new generation.
Number two, The hat's on straight, it's thier head thats crooked.
Last but not least, the pants are called Capri pants for men, they are pulled up.

Well how very "PC" of you 737. LOl

Thanks for setting me straight!

giantfan, i have to believe that now given the fact that DL and NW have agreed to merge, if the Fleet turns down the pos t/a, i think they will come out with a better deal. Al i got to say is look at UA fleet contract and they are getting raises; CO a non union, and SWA heavily union, are making a lot more than Fleet at US. Why is it that mechanics get 10% across the board yet fleet cant get that? "Y does Fleet only labor group to continue to have the stupid 60 day rule when it shouldnt even be there? Y does M/R have a no furlough deal with their contract and Fleet dont? I dont even trust the mgmt let alone IAM clowns to say "we are not coming to the table if this is turned down. I believe the company needs Fleet to ratify this now just so they can merge yet if this is turned down I think that will force the company and IAM to get a better agreement. Also y does all other labor groups get profit sharing and fleet doesnt??? Dont tell me they could have come up with a better T/A because we all know they can

Let me play devils advocate …

WHY will they come out with a better deal ?

The COC ? After reading what jester wrote about the company just structuring any merger so as not to trigger it , I finally realized today , it’s absolutely worthless to us … if my unbussiness unlawyer like mind serves me correctly , wouldn’t all the company have to do is find a group of investors with SEPRATE interests who are NOT colluding and have them invest in the new merger so as not to trigger the COC ?That’s what happened last time , I see no reason it won’t happen again .

This company won’t merge without us ? Without the baggage handlers? Please , don’t make me laugh , AND it’s even easier when the potential merger partner (most likely UA ) is already IAM …not to mention I’d bet MONEY that our pilots won’t be in a single contract anytime soon … guys if their going to merge without the PILOTS , then you think their gonna put the brakes on for the baggage handlers?

What doug parker is doing is getting his house in order , as much he can BEFORE he merges , but I’m almost positive that he has his company ledger out and KNOWS just how much X union at Y rate is going to cost over the term of the contract . By closing the field stations in 2011 he’s probably seeing some grand return that we’re not … He won’t change his forecasted budget because some rammpers FEEL sad that they aren’t getting paid enough ….

As for why the OTHER unions have all that neat stuff ? Can’t say , perhaps their a lot STRONGER than we are , maybe shocker was right and us avation has revealed our true strengthen to a damaging degree . a lot of what I’m reading on here goes something like this “our damn NC committee , get rid of them and send in the new guys!!!†that makes me chuckle , has it ever occurred to anyone that maybe the current NC did the best they could ? I find it laughable that your all more willing to damn your duly elected union leaders than this company that is SOELY responsible for your wages and benefits ….

And yes I know some of them aren’t duly elected , the AGC’s , and I know a lot of the union leaders are making 100k a year , but you know what , that’s not the issue today , the issue is the proposed TA , not who hates who or who is jealous that so and so is making so much a year

Freedom

I for one am not jealous of anyone, but I am pissed at people like you who flip/flop to your liking. You talk a big game but carry a small verbal stick. You are about the money only, and thats that. All the previous talk you spew is just talk. There are alot more union members that have it worse than you do. You just don't hear from them because they are furloughed and can't come back. Hopefully you won't be in that boat in the near future.

Learn from the past for the future is before us!
